I know its an old thread but I came to this one when I was wondering if I could do the vette servo. Just in case any one like me comes along in the future. 4l70 does allow for vette servo replacement. The servo in the 70 is actually sized inbetween the one in the 60/65 and the one in the vette so the apply area is not going to be as dramatic of a jump when you switch to a vette servo. I just put mine in today. Already had a 5lb bump in line pressure via tune and it shifted pretty good with that but now it is even better. It also made 2nd to 3rd better. I actually chirped second in my tank sized crew cab so I was really happy with the mod. Oh btw, it is super easy to do. Removing the heat shield was the hardest part and that wasnt even that bad. Took me about an hour and that was with trying to keep an eye on my rambunctious 4 year old fella. First time I have ever done anything to a transmission besides check the fluid lol

My neighbor has some 15" wide mickey street tires and they are expensive decorations for his truck lol. He has a s10 with a vortec 350 with a nast cam and all he does is spin them when he gets on it. Not like he is putting down insane hp.

Ugh, I do not need to hear about lsu losing to ol miss anymore..my poor tigers. Could have still gone all the way and then that sh&t hapens. I cried a single tear after that

Yea..I had him turn tow/haul into beast mode. I dont use it often because i had him remove all the TM off of tow haul so to be honest I am a little scared to use it. It holds 1st gear to about 22 mph when I am putting along lol and when I get on it it shifts really high in the revs. I had him leave some TM in normal mode, about 25 or 30 % iirc. He bumped the line pressure about 5lbs and raised the shift points up several hundred rpms. I do not get good mpg, but i dont care cuz I work 3 miles from my house. I can make a tank last almost a month sometimes and its my DD. I think he removed the PE delay? He tweaked the afr. He tried to add 1 degree of timing and it wouldnt take it anywhere in the table so I had to run the 87 out and I came back with 93 and he was able to 5 to 6 degrees of timing across the board. I did install a vette servo just now and oh my god! Normal shifting is definately amazing now! It was chirping second, I do need new tires but it wasnt doing that before. Also made my 2 to 3 shift way more pronounced.

So I had my truck tuned about a year ago. I just dont know if he got it right. People seem to really like the guy and he definately has the years of big horsepower experience. I dont want to say he didnt but I just dont know if I am feeling what everyone else is feeling in their tunes. Everyone is head over heels about Justin, Zippy, and Wheatley as far as what their tunes brought to their driving experience. Just want to know if I got that but just had higher expectations.

There are a few sss roaming around here. I have a Vmax so i Just think of it as a 4 door ss, without the awd of course. The hot thing here is single cabs with 6.0 swaps, but i am only a few hours from houston so it is only natural that rcsb's have found there way in my neck of the woods.well don't that suck. Man nobody here has SSS's. They just see it as a chevy truck.

Hey gcosse. Nice to see a fellow cajun on here. Looks like you are from the other side of the state. I am from Sulphur, just outside of Lake Charles.

I have the crew cab lt3 2006 vmax. 3.73 G80 10 bolt hybrid axle. Torsion front end, like The Dude said it sits much higher. Sunroof and the ride control with the selectable dampening shocks. If you change shocks you do lose the feature and it will throw a code. I stll have mine but my tuner said he could delete the code when i change shocks. Also the complete set of shocks for our trucks are like a grand to replace.

Calipers are relatively cheap on my V Max. I think i saw them for 30 something dollars at one auto store. Really is a straight forward job replacing pads calipers and rotors. Not sure about the price of rotors, last pads i bought were the ceramics at oreilleys and they were a little pricey, stop my crew cab pretty well but squeak like nobodys business when they are cold
-
Man i had the same issue. I changed the a/c tensioner and a/c belt and no more squeaks.
-
I put the ceramic pads from OReillys up front and havent had any dust issues...they stop great but squeak ike crazy when they are cold...sounds like a schoolbus lol
-
I bought the most expensive pads at O'reillys. They are ceramic and dust isnt bad but I sound like a school bus during low speed braking.. they drive me crazy. put them on at 83k miles and the factory pads were perfectly fine.

Thanks bad ass..rather do drolpleaves than deal with the pita hangers. I dont tow anything anyways.
-
Yea I have drop shackles, I put them in but iirc I believ they only had one hole but I mighr be mistaken...so I could get a 2/4 drop safely without losing my ride this way?

So where are the lift blocks at and is it hard to remove them?

Thanks for the welcome!

I want to, trust me. Sorry I didnt put pictures I do everything internet related either on my phone or ipad and all my picture options are too large to upload on here and I am clueless as to how to make them smaller without emailing them to myself and then resaving them to use on here.

I love my truck. It has everything I want, but it sits so freaking high. Why? Today I traded my 24s to a guy who happened to have the same dealer option split six 20s I bought the truck with (strange coincidence). I traded back down to 20s for the ride quality, but mainly because it just didnt look right lol. I had 305 35 20s on it and it didnt come close to filling the wheel well. He put them on his 05 1/2 ton crew and they looked great, fender was only a couple inches over the tire. Why does his sit so much lower, all he has is drop shackles to level. I put 2" drop shackles on it about a year ago to level it but mine still looks tall. Help lol
Edit***305-35-24, not 20 lol

Hello all, new member but not new to the site. I have been reading from these forums since I bought my 2006 cc Vortec Max 2wd a year and a half ago. Figured I should join up. Looking forward to discussing the awesomeness that is the LQ9 with all of yall!

It would be nice to hear from zippy or someone who tackles these tunes to know if I asked for the right setip from my tuner. I didnt want to do anything that could tear up my transmission, but I did want as much performance from the engine I could get. Should I have him go over it again with anything in particular in mind. He is a stellar dude and I really think he is a capable tuner.
