  1. what are your guys' feelings on these cams XR281HR 228/230 .571/.573 112LSA XER273HR 224/230 .581/.591 114LSA If i put more work into trans would it be worth it for one of these. my understanding is the xer273hr is a better setup if a supercharger was added. and maybe somewhere down the line that would be a possibility. i figured getting a better intake setup would probably be necessary. would i also need a better fuel pump at this point. i just figure if im gonna go through the trouble to change the motor and trans, id rather get the most power out of the truck. does anybody here run either of these cams?
  2. new question. is there another cam you guys might recommend for more power. with added costs not being too bad.
  3. Awesome guys. thanks again. just wanted to make sure i was on the correct track. bacton77. there is a cam guide post that is pinned under this category. one of the more knowledgable guys here made a list of cams with upgrades needed. he recommend a stall between 2600-3000 as well. why..idk. im not an expert in this stuff yet. pricing this stuff ive come up with about 900 as well, so we must be close. im going to really check pricing now and see best places for cost. what kind of gains do you guys think a cam setup like this one would produce. is it worth the money? i think around income tax time im gonna get it done. oh ya. what about a upgraded fuel pump
  4. ok. so been a while since i got on here and 2 years since I got my SS. I have an 06 Intimidator SS 2wd. LQ9, i am really thinking about replacing the cam finally to update this beast. mods to far are CAI, Longtubes no cats, Msd wires, and a tune. It has just over 103k miles now. I moved to NM from east TX. the elevation here is 6k feet. it is lowered 5/7 with tbss 22iin reps. want to know what some of you guys are running. i want to keep it a daily driver. my trans is stock til it goes out. lol. basically im wanting to know what all i will need when replacing my cam. cam, springs, pushrods, lifters, rockers, etc. what all will i need to do this job. CAM- XR275HR 222/224 .566/.568 112LSA - what do you guys think about this cam. Also what other parts would i need to make this work. is this something that i would absolutely have to beef my trans up for. Stall -2600-3000k. What brand? Valve springs- 918s and titanium retainers Injectors- 8.1l marine? Oil Pump -? timing chain -? Rockers - what ratio with cam setup? Pushrods - ? Also, how do i know exactly what trans i have in mine. its options are 4l65e or 4l70e any recommendations from you guys that already have a set up. looking for info. i know you guys here are the best source. any info you guys can share is greatly appreciated.

  6. i bought my 06 SSS with 84k miles. Its got 22in ss reps and is lowered 5/7 with all new parts. I paid 17,500 for mine. But i also looked for a few months before i found the right one, and i drove 6 hrs to get it. upgrading parts on a vehicle most of the time does not increase the actual value of the vehicle. people wanting 15k for an 03 ss with 120k miles is ridiculous. I buy my vehicles by going by nada guide. If the truck is clean, I try to pay between clean trade in and clean retail. hopefully closer to trade in. the way i learned from a car dealer is vehicles are supposed to have wheels, supposed to have plugs, wires, etc. Just becasue they put shiny or better parts on doesnt increase the retail of the vehicle. just be patient and you can find the right one for the right price.
  7. i live in atlanta, tx but am from magnolia, ar. glad to hear ya got one. we need pics now
  8. I love my SSS. I have an 06 2wd intimidator. my gas mileage average is 14mpg but i drive 80mph to work and dont put put around town either. i guess it could be worse. mod wise i have a kn cai, msd wires, ngk tr6 plugs, lt pacesetter headers, no cats, magnaflow muffler, and a tune. the guy i bought it from said he ran a 13.9 best after he did all this to it, but i have not had to chance to check for myself. it does have power though. the good thing is there are a lot of trucks out there for sale that already have a lot of these basics done to them, so finding one with a few things already done to it will help. personally i would rather have a 2wd vs an awd. i live in east tx so no need for awd. but from what ive seen, there is a problem with the front diff on the awd. im sure awd owners can tell you better, but i love my 2wd. just my 2cents. cant go wrong with an SS in my opinion. one of the best lookin trucks ever made
  9. the blend doors going out is common. it calls for .8 hrs on mitchell, so it shouldnt be too hard to get to. not a dash puller. #89018374 is the GM part number. the parts store should be able to cross it and get you the right one. the wiper controller part # is 88958372. dont have a number yet on pulse board but the local parts store should be able to look that one up. hope this helps
  10. I manage a shop and all the newer vehicle lights are all different. Some are set at 3k 4k 5k 7k or even 10k. I have been in the business since I was 19 and I'm 25 now> The way I see it is there is conventional oil and there is synthetic. The synthetic blends, high mileage or any other combo are a waste of money to me. It all depends on what your preference is. I have an 06 SS with now 89k miles on it, a 10 suzuki car which started at 8k miles and now has 55k, and a 94 chevy 1500 that i got at 177k miles. I run Mobil1 full synthetic in all of them. On my 94 I would change it every 3k miles because it was an older vehicle. On my suzuki, i change it every 5k to 7k miles because its all highway driving. On my SS I change it every 3k to 4k miles. Im sure i could go more miles on it, but the way I look at it is I'd rather spend 40 on oil and a filter, than spend more money putting a motor in my truck. Most of these oil change or maintenance lights are all just counters. Personally I just disregard them and change my oil by mileage. I just reset the light when i change my oil so i never see it. I can promise you that preventative maintenance is the best way to keep your vehicle running right and prevent further problems. If a part goes bad, I replace it with the best. Just like oil, I want the best and to me Moblil 1 is the best. Hope this helps
  11. yeah. oreillys does sell moog. that is the best way to go. you put a lesser one on to save money and you will be doing them again in six months. I run a shop and we see it all the time.
  12. READ THIS. It should help a little. http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/engine/hrdp_0710_6l_ls_series_small_block/
  13. Don't care for a dodge but that would be the only one I would ever buy.....if I hit the lotto. Either way a badass car for sure
