  1. yea i seen that on ebay but i liked the other one as it angled down towards the tow hitch, i wonder if i just buy another handle then experiment with one as hey they are only like $10 on ebay compared to nearly $400 they want on that website seems way to much, i might just do that but ill let you guys know as i like the oem look of that pic i posted

  2. As the title says i am trying to find a tailgate bezel like the attached photo so i can install a back up camera into the tailgate handle, so i can have the factory look. i've seen them on http://www.cubbycam.combut i just don't want to pay the $390 price tag just for a piece of plastic, there must be places out there otherwise i might buy a factory bezel and modify it myself to fit a camera. Anyway any help would be awesome, Cheers

  3. I still miss my 05 SS but i still keep in contact with the new owner so i might do a meet up when i finish this truck. And on another note i really hope i can repair the rear cladding as that would be an expensive and hard to to find thing to do, i have purchased the fibreglass cladding to fit at the back of the new cab i think this is all i should have to buy cladding wise. No body knows where i can get a new rear bumper cover that isn't going to break the bank otherwise i may have to try repair the old one 28m0o52.jpg

  4. Hey Mark,

Good to see you back here. So you have to look forward to doing the right hand drive conversion all over again, huh?

Still thinking of moving over to the US?

yea its great to be back, i wont be converting this one as there is a way to get around it since i am doing a build truck. I am still looking at moving to the US i was just over there a month ago where i picked my dodge challenger up in texas and drove it back to Los Angeles. Was a fun trip. I am having issues trying to get a work visa, i don't think i am going to be able to get one. i am an electrician but i don't think i qualify to get a work visa which sucks. i will keep trying but i think i am wasting my time

I totally understand the attraction of making a hot rod RCSB, but if I had both those trucks, the SS being fixable I would be far more tempted to fix the SS and have the extra room of the extended cab!

I drove lots of regular cab trucks back when I did the 60-66 Chevy's, once I got an extended cab 88-98 truck I never looked back.

    Richard

With the ss being that close to being a driver, I'd have trouble cutting it up. I'd end up putting both trucks back on the road, but different strokes for different folks. Is that a factory power sunroof in the rc truck?

Yea i know the truck is very close to being a driver, but my problem is if i keep the truck the way it is, being that im taking these back to New Zealand, if i keep the SS the way it is i will have to convert it to right hand drive as it cant be road legal the way it is as a EXT cab, but since im building a project i can get away with doing that project, since i did that project 2 years ago im not doing that conversion again as was a pain in the ass. if i was keeping the truck in the US then yes i would fix the truck and drive it. ill be selling off all the left over parts when im done. I don't know if it is factory or not, i wont know till it arrives back home then i can check it out for myself. part of the reason i brought that cab was because there was a sunroof installed and i would of brought one anyway, so thats one less job

Nice! good luck on your build.

looks like these trucks are from Texas?

the SS came from Houston, the Single cab came from central California

  5. Nice good luck on the build and looking forward on this build it gonna come out really nice

Thanks i cant wait as well, I see you have done a clone did you do a complete swap like i am doing? and other thing as you can see the rear bumper on the ss is a bit bent but i have read that the rear bumpers are the same as the normal bumpers just has the moulding over top so hopefully this is correct so i can use the bumper off the other truck. and if you did the engine swap did you make the truck 4WD or is it still 2WD, thanks

  6. Its been a while since i've been on this forum, since selling my 2005 SS back in January, I brought a 2015 dodge challenger SRT, but i have decided to come back as these trucks are pretty awesome. Just this time i am doing it different.

I have always wanted to do this build for the last couple of years just never wanted to do it to my last truck as it was to good of a truck. Anyway i am building myself a single cab Silverado SS clone, but not just any clone, a correct clone as i want it done properly, with all the SS parts

So i went to work and purchased myself a 2004 Silverado SS from an auction to be used as the donor, then i went and purchased a 2004 single cab truck that i will use as the shell for build, most parts will change over. There will be a few things i will need to buy which i will buy along the way

i am thinking about painting the truck Arrive blue as i've always loved that color and also looks really good on the SS trucks

i will take in advice from any of you guys along the way as there maybe other ideas members might add. i want this project to be the correct SS parts, everything down to the correct wiring loom, engine, interior, exterior mouldings, etc etc. oh and might i add i will be doing this in New Zealand so i have to have these trucks shipped across the world before i can even work on them.

The SS has had damage up the back and other truck as you can see is a stolen and recovered. i wonder if the original owner of the SS is on this forum

heres a few photos of the trucks

and updates again once these trucks are closer to home

  7. If you are experiencing play in the steering your front end components are most likely getting worn out like others have said. I've found that it is pretty cheap to just replace all of the components as these trucks are getting pretty old now. I purchased the following off Amazon with free shipping for right about $250 then installed it all myself and it made a big difference in steering feel/play. After replacement a realignment is critical as the new pitman arm usually aligns the steering wheel off slightly.

2 of ACDelco 45A0785 Professional Outer Steering Tie Rod End

2 of ACDelco 45A1311 Professional Inner Steering Tie Rod End

ACDelco 46C1123A Advantage Idler Link Arm Bracket Assembly

ACDelco 45C1120 Professional Idler Link Arm

    ACDelco 45C0069 Professional Pitman Arm

Also the steering wheel can only be installed one way on these trucks since it's keyed, so that is not the issue most likely. The ball joints won't cause the wheel to be to one side unless they are really bad, usually they squeak or pop on corners when they are toast.

I was about to say the same thing Matt as when i did my RHD conversion, when i changed the steering box to the other side the shaft must of lined up differently on the new steering box so the steering wheel was out by half a turn so i went to try and move the wheel but found it could only be inserted one way. ALSO another thing to remember is when removing the steering shaft from the steering box, MAKE SURE YOU TAPE OR DO ANYTHING TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL FROM MOVING AROUND WHILE ITS REMOVED as i found the hard way here and snapped the clock spring as forget how many turns the wheel had done as there is only 6 turns TOTAL before the spring snaps. you need 3 turns in each direction.

  8. here i am writing this whole thing out once again as closed the tab by mistake

got the truck back about 3 weeks ago just been so busy with life that i haven't had a chance to put up an update, finally great to have the truck all done. its been along journey but its finally come to an end :ughdance: went on my first road trip in it this weekend 2 and a half hours both ways, what a dream it was to drive drives just like it did when i first got it. there were a few minor things in compliance, like washers behind bolts and a stone chip in the window and also they had to remove the font window tints :wtf: they were 5% and the legal limit here is 35% oh well ill just have to get 35 put on the front looks weird the way it is now. its getting warmer here now as were heading into summer so was great to roll back the sunroof and feel the sun blasting in today while hearing the V8 blasting away, ive had a couple of people interested in buying it, i just need to sort my shit out and try and get my visa to work in america that way i wont mind selling it. that way ill have a bit of money to live off in america and also maybe buy another SSS or maybe a camaro cant make up my mind. anyway heres some pictures i took last weekend just need to give her a good wax and polish now to get rid of a few minor scratches and to shine the paint up better. sorry about the dark pictures inside think bright light outside made it go dark

  9. yea i might still cover it up or at least some of the vin number as your right it wouldn't be hard to copy license plates and vin number once its done, would be easy to get away with it here as not many people know what an ss silverado would look like. and thanks man, when i sit here and think about it now i think wow i really took on that project and finished it. there just so big on our roads here, you hold your breath when you cross a narrow bridge with the a semi coming towards you. but you still get plenty of looks from people in a good way also other chevy owners beep at you and wave.

  10.

^^I have to agree highly with this statement. With you haveing a rare truck for NZ thieves will be on the lookout for your VIN so they can "replicate" your truck and try to make some money off a ecsb silverado with SS badges slapped on. It was an issue in New England with exotics a few years back. My dealership even covers up my VIN on my windshield. I know you can get the VIN in numerous other areas but its just a little bit of security we all need to take as we all love our vehicles Mark. Please do not take my post as a bash, just trying to help out. I hope everything works out so you can be driving that truck asap!

yea maybe it is a good thing as these trucks you can see the vin number just from looking in the front window, dumb place to put it really

  11.

Your crazy dude!! I wouldn't be flashing my whole VIN# out there on the ol "WWW".

Just my 2 cents though, and it won't even buy you a cup of coffee these days. :dunno:

cool thanks for the tip can you remove your post, cheers

  12. You cant tell on the sticker if it is 2wd or 4wd unless you run the vin

thats the problem i think they are going to check my vin and the sticker vin to make sure its the exact same model, but im going to give it a shot other wise ill try get a 2wd one

  13. well i found out how cold it got tonight on my 5 min walk to le trok. problems of parking in the farthest spot possible lol. i got the picture, but once i got back to my room i realized i musta shook as it snapped. its not the clearest. if its any help for ya ill get another one tomorrow

    20141102_222650_zpsvet8farf.jpg

thanks for that your awesome. yea i can read some of it but a little blurry, if you would'nt mind trying another tomorrow, i hope that it being 4wd isnt a problem for them who knows. thanks

  14. Try gmpartseast.com I thought I seen the label listed for my truck, just punch in your vin and ervey part for your truck will be listed or try and call them 1-888-737-9766. I get all my parts from them they are about 30% cheaper than all dealers and they are gm parts and no tax just shipping. I look for your truck 05 2wdHD with 6.0LQ4, but I don't know the vin it shows the air box lid but not the label just give them a call they might be able to help

cool thanks, they wont b open today will they? and who knows if they can help tried looking on there website but as you said cant see any label on the airbox, who knows if they can get me a label. thanks

  15. Hmm I'm not sure. Never really looked at mine either. I'll give her a look whenever I get a chance and grab a picture

    Sent from my Galaxy S-Fawhore

thanks, that would be awesome, the only other way i would be able to get the information is to write to GM and get them to send out a letter to say it complies, which will take days :( im wanting to have the truck on the road by friday

Good luck Mark. I'm the wrong year and AWD.

its all good, thanks anyway, do ask others tho if you know anyone that has the requirements that fit my truck. cheers

  16. i have an 05, but its AWD. dont see why that should matter though, or if that is even listed on the air box sticker

ye think it does matter tho as they want to look up the vin # to confirm that it has the same specs as mine and when they look that up they will see that yours is 4WD as i take it the vin # is on the sticker right ? if not then yea that will be good, i would'nt know as ive never seen an SS orignal air box

Hope you find one bro, I was gonna check mine but its an 06 but its rear wheel drive too but then forgot I dont have the factory air intake

its all good man there pretty strict anyway here :/
