  1. Thanks for your opinions everyone

    get some z06 calipers :jester:

Lol yes I would but this isn't really my fun toy like most of y'all, so I'm not looking to dump a lot of money or time into it. Just have it look decent at a glance.

Grr still debating this though... I don't think the black wheels would look that bad. I'm gonna look at tires in both sizes...maybe that will help me decide.

  2. I like the 22s a lot honestly (but chrome over silver any day imo), but I absolutely HATE the look of the tiny calipers behind them. I'm thinking the black 20s with more spokes will be much more concealing. Also better tire options and prices...

Seriously, I'm pretty sure my S2000 at home has larger rotors

  3. So I'm stuck deciding between going with 22" chrome reps or these in black http://www.tbssowners.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=259... I think they're from the newer sierras?

Truck is currently stock height but I'm ordering a 2/2 drop from tbss now.

I'm looking for pics of anybody with any ride height/color of the http://www.tbssowners.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=259 sierra wheels

Also looking for pics of black SS with chrome 22 reps and 2/2 drop

Currently I'm offshore working (oil rigs) and the internet provider has photo bucket and others blocked, so most shared pictures on the forum don't work. If you have these pictures I would greatly appreciate you emailing them to [email protected].

    Thanks in advance everyone

  4. What are you running at tx2k if you don't mind me asking?

Not running anything, just got a few buddies flying in so want my people hauler at least looking good. Picking up some 22 reps and a 2/2 drop with shocks and 305/40/22s hopefully can get it all done before.

My turbo s2k is in FL or I'd bring her. Unfortunately though it still wouldn't compete. Average hp car at tx2k this year is like 800. Its out of control.

Yeah those replacement mirror glass pieces are ridiculous. You would be better off searching eat for an entire used mirror imo.

Darn well already put my order in. What's 'eat' though? Could use that later down the road I'm sure.

  5. Hey all,

5 months back some a$$hole stole my tailgate and step pad off my bumper. Found another tailgate which of course was not pristine like my old one...

Anyway thats not the point. I'm trying to find a replacement step pad and am willing to buy new instead of waiting for one to come available as TX2K is coming up. I need part 7 from this diagram here:

    http://www.gmpartsonline.net/parts/2004/Chevrolet/Silverado%201500/SS?siteid=215055&vehicleid=175065&diagram=GH99860

My question is, is this really two parts (there is a left and right in the parts list)? And can someone explain to me the w/ and w/o "heavy duty" option?

    Thanks in advance

  6. unless he cleaned it your prints could still be on it!

I would help but im in houston too lol

If your tailgate didn't have the "Silverado" decal under the SS emblem most likely this is yours

Says AD has been deleted, I hope you got it??

Sorry for the late reply everyone, been super busy moving from Tampa. Actually 1BAD2K went and grabbed it for me, and he's buffing it up and added the bezel that's missing off it. Props to him he's been really helpful and informative.

I appreciate everyone's help/concern! I'll post some pictures up once the gate is back on and my wheels come in.

  7. I know I have a WTB thread already up; I would have posted this in a regional section but there doesn't seem to be any (for a good reason most likely) on this forum, so this seemed like the next best spot. I'll move it if needed.

If anyone would be willing to go look over this tailgate for me and hold onto it for a little I'll get up there (from Houston) asap and give you 100 on top of the cost. Mine was stolen a month ago and I need one badly. It's cheap and I want to act quickly on it, but due to work related travel I am worried I'll miss it.

    Thanks folks

  8. Theres one for sale on craigslist in Dallas

Thanks! I've seen that. I've been speaking with him but my last day I could have gotten up there was this past sunday, and he didn't reply that day. I fly out of town tomorrow morning and so I wont be able to get up there until I get back.

If anyone in that area was willing to check it out and pick it up for me I'd pay them to hold onto it for me until I could make the trip!

  9. Some a**hole stole my tailgate about a month back. I work on the oilrigs but I have a few weeks home now so I'm trying to replace it.

Truck is black, but I would consider painting one because it seems SS tailgates are hard to find. The thief also stole the step pads on the bumper so if anybody has those I'd also be interested.

Located in Houston, but would make a trip for it.

    Thanks everyone.

  10. If you get a locking handle, send it to me, i will paint it for you no charge. Hate thieves

Thanks a ton, that sounds like a decent option for me. Can you PM me an address? I will get all the security set up so that once I do get a gate I can apply all this right after.

Does anyone know of a good quality lock? I found these 3..

Id like it to look oem, or close.

Get a alarm and run a switch to the tail gate like I did. If the tail gate moves at all the alarm sounds.

I will likely be doing this in combo with a tailgate locking handle. Thanks!

  11. So in followup to this incident, I am researching tonneau covers and ways to lock the bed closed. So far I've found locking tonneau covers, but they may/may not lock the tailgate?

Can someone experienced simplify this a little for me? Do I need to find a tonneau cover that not only has a key-lock, but literally wraps over the top of the tailgate to prevent it from opening? Can I buy a locking tailgate?

Simply put, I want a tonneau cover, I want the bed to be impossible to access without a key (or keys, idc). What are my options?

    Thanks everyone. Great forum

  12. Sorry this happened to ya...

A simple $1.00 worm-style hose clamp can make all the difference. Just add it to the passenger side trunion/hinge. It will have to then me removed 1st before the tailgate can be lifted off from the truck.

Time is everything to a PUNK-A$S thief.

Oh, and to answer your question, Chevy/GMC tailgates are ALL the same. Just different nameplates & that top spoiler change out...

Thanks for the tip, and the info! I will be going all out on theft prevention with an aftermarket system soon. I want gps tracking, the whole 9 yards.

  13. that sucks! sorry to hear that. I live in Houston tx I will keep a lookout on craigslist for yall! I had someone make a attempt to steal my tail gate but they could get it off bc I installed the jimmi jammer GATE KEEPER.

please invest in anti-theft! these trucks are way to easy to steal! The truck scene is pretty big in TX!

I will be investing in the gate keeper once I do some research and figure out what those are. I figured theres some sort of security bolts that you can use to attach the gate. I never even looked to see how the gate comes off. I imagine it wasn't difficult.

And yes this made me realize. I will buy an aftermarket antitheft system soon for her. Especially considering I have to leave it unlocked at the helipad for two weeks while I'm offshore, due to company policy. Thanks for the tips

Sucks to hear man. I ****ing hate thieves more than anything.... anyways, I am a bit north of you, but I have a black tailgate and upper and lower cladding for it that I don't think I'll be using. Even has a painted handle and bezel. Lmk if interested....Sam.

I'm definitely interested. I'll PM you once I investigate replacing the gate. I'm trying to find a good (secure and safe too...) apartment in the midtown area right now. Once I do I'll have a little more freedom. I'm just in a rush because I need to go offshore soon and would like to have a home before I go. Thanks a million

  14. I've had my SS for less than two weeks. It's been in TX (houston) for about 3 days. I'm staying at the La Quinta off Kenswick by the Bush Airport. My tailgate (black) was stolen between 4-7pm on 8/15... mad3.gif

    Few questions:

Are there any differences between regular silverado tailgates and SS ones? I cant imagine anybody would rather steal a tailgate instead of just purchasing the SS badging from somewhere..

Does anybody know where I should watch to see if it surfaces for sale? I figured I'd get the word out here and watch craigslist, but anything else?

Anyway I know it's a long shot, but if anybody sees or hears anything please let me know via PM or at [email protected] .. I'm just worried the entire truck will go missing now..

    Thanks everyone

Edit: If this is in the wrong section or would do more good elsewhere please let me know

  15. hey ill sell you a 700 whp one, but itll cost you a tad more than $15k :jester: but in all seriousness, I have occasionally picked up SSS trucks at auction if they are clean, and sell them. will take a look through the dealer auctions for you

Thats very appreciated! I was in a tight time constraint so I already actually pulled the trigger on one. It's in okay shape, I'll return it to pristine shape over the next few years. Thanks for the thought though. I like this forum!

btw, that 08 STI you own sounds like quite a blast. I used to drive a stage 2 '05 STI. They're a damn good time.

i working out a deal where i might be able to be another ss that needs a motor. basically get 12k for mine and the roller depending on how beat up it is.

Again, I appreciate the offers guys! I should take down the thread, I already purchased one.
