  1. I just sent my cluster to Steve a few weeks ago. Packing instructions on the website. I actually called him from the post office on a Thursday (rural town -UPS delivery, but no UPS shipping point) with a shipping question. He told me what I needed to know and I sent them. The following Wednesday I got an email with a tracking number saying they were done and being shipped back to me. UPS delivered them Thursday. Awesome, fast service and great communication. I'd highly recommend.
  2. Is there anything in here that can be causing my problem: Here's the background: 2003 Silverado 2500 HD. 6.0 Low oil pressure warning sounded in the information center Oil is full. Maybe 100 miles on the oil change Pulled sending unit and installed mechanical gauge. Zero oil pressure Pulled oil filter to check for collapse/clog/metal. Everything looks normal. New oil filter on. Suspect oil pump is bad Ran engine for a few seconds to check oil pressure again. Still no oil pressure at sending unit, but somehow the new oil filter was full of oil. Seems like that would indicate the pump is working. Did notice lifter noise though Borrowed oil pressure adapter that mounts on oil filter threads from a mechanic. Started it up and the gauge showed 46 pounds of pressure to the filter. Low oil pressure warning chime was not on and lifter noise went away Reinstalled oil filter and disconnected oil cooler line from top of radiator thinking there might be an obstruction someplace. Started engine and the oil line filled a juice jug with oil about as quickly as your kitchen sink would fill the jug with water. No warning chime at this time either. Reconnected top oil cooler line to the radiator and disconnected bottom line to see if maybe there was an obstruction in the oil cooler. Started engine again and oil again filled the jug coming out of the radiator. Still no low oil pressure warning chime Does this seem odd: With the bottom (return) line disconnected from the radiator, and oil being pumped out of the bottom of the radiator, I noticed that there was also a little bit of oil coming out of the return hardline that goes to the block (shown in the photo) by the oil filter. When I covered The end of the hard line with my thumb there was air pressure pushing against my thumb. I really expected it to suck since I believed that to be The line taking filtered, cooled oil back to the pan. I reconnected the bottom hard line to the radiator/oil cooler and started the engine again. The low oil pressure chime sounded and my lifter noise was back as well. Can anyone tell me why I might have oil pressure at the bottom of the engine and not the top -or why when and line the oil cooler is disconnected the low oil pressure chime doesn't sound? Has anybody been there done that? Or maybe somebody can tell me something obvious that I'm just overlooking. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  3. I mentioned this one on here a while back and got a couple responses, but I have a little more to add and I'm having trouble making sense of it. Here's the background: 2003 Silverado 2500 HD 6.0 145k. Started it up one morning and the low oil pressure warning chime went off. It had plenty of oil, and had just been changed so I thought it must be the sending unit. I pulled the sending unit and hooked up a mechanical gage. No oil pressure. Thinking it must be the oil pump. Tried pulling the filter just to see if anything was weird. Didn't notice any thing out of the ordinary. Replaced with a new filter. Re-attached the sending unit and started it up briefly. Found that oil had been pumped into the filter. I removed the oil filter and attached a mechanical oil pressure gauge at the filter mount. Found that I had 46 pounds of oil pressure (cold). While I was checking this, I noticed that the lifters quit ticking, making me think that I had oil pressure at the top of the engine. The warning chime did not go off while this was happening. I took the oil pressure gauge adapter off, and replaced it with the new oil filter. The lifters were ticking and the low oil pressure warning chime again went off. Now I'm thinking, "must be à blockage someplace". I removed the oil cooler line from the radiator and started the engine. In a few seconds it filled half of a juice jug. Also, no warning chime. As I was catching the oil coming out of the bottom of the radiator, I covered the end of the return line with my thumb. I had expected to feel suction, if anything. I was surprised to find that I had to squeeze fairly hard to keep my finger seated against the end of the oil return line. There was a certain degree of Air pressure coming out of the line. I was pretty sure that this line should be taking filtered, cooled oil back to the engine and can't figure out why I thought I felt air coming back in the opposite direction. I was hoping that maybe somebody on here could shed some light on this for me. Any ideas or suggestions where or what I should check next? Thanks. I reattached line into the radiator, and removed the bottom return line to see if oil would come out of the radiator. It did, and again no warning chime. I did not notice the lifters pumping up, but then again, I only ran it for five seconds or so. I reattached the oil cooler return line to the radiator and started The engine again to check for leaks. The low oil pressure chime went off immediately.
