Thanks for the reply. I know when i drove to Long Island i had a full tank. I live in the hills so everywhere i go is usually 15-20min minimum but it does contain some hills. The fact that i don't drive it during the week makes me want to drive it more during the weekend anyway. I Normally keep the tank at least half but i will make sure to keep it 3/4 to full for next few rides.
Does anyone know if you can force an in bay test with the snap on modis? if so how to go about doing that.

Well i would like to pick someones brain here who is hopefully from NJ or has dealt with emissions in their state.
Took my truck in for inspection a couple weeks ago after replacing my MAF and failed (figured i didn't drive it enough since i only drive the truck on the weekends for the most part)
My inspection paper reads
Overall Readiness Result : Fail
Catalytic Converters: Not ready
Evaporative System: Not ready
Luckily my buddy let me use his modis, and after putting as many miles as i could in a couple weeks (Drove to LI for a pool table
) Under generic tests it reads the following;Catalyst: Test Complete
Evaporative System: Not complete
I did some research on here and i did the eval procedure a couple times with no result. Also i have no codes whatsoever.
So my questions is this to hopefully someone from NJ. My buddy told me that one system can be not ready and it will pass. So the reason i failed before is because catalyst wasn't ready either. If anyone could let me know if there is some truth to this?
I get one more free inspection before i have to pay someone to inspect it and i would hate to fail again since i know my truck in fine and it should pass.

I did the powerstop kit for on 05 tahoe in the front, bolts right up. Then i did the same kit for an 03 ss in the rear. Works good on the hills that i live on. Mine is a DD as well.

I have on 03 silverado ss as well and i did the Powerstop brake kit for the front, drilled and slotted, then i ordered the same kit but for an 07 tahoe for the rear, everything bolted right up and at least i have new calipers as well now. I also replaced every brake line with stainless. The brakes definitely outperform the stock brakes. But still not as good as i would like them to be, plan on doing the hydroboost in the future.
As far as the drilled and slotted concerns go, i live on a 20% grade rd that has about a 1000ft climb and i have absolutely zero issues with them so the powerstop kit has to be of descent quality. Also made sure to bed my rotors and pads in properly which is important.

Well I got the bed off, and it looks like its going to rain all weekend, so i need to wait till the week to power wash the frame clean and start replacing stuff. With the bed off, i noticed my exhaust leaks are due to a completely hacked up cat-back. Looks like i am going to be ordered a Corsa exhaust (Which i wanted anyway). Annoys me to see such nice trucks and people apply half ass modifications.

Something doesn't seem right about that, i don't see how a transfer case would take out a trans. I wonder if the torque converter blew apart. I would definitely check the trans fluid and the transfer case.

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to order the russell brake line kit, (Part # 672430 according to their website) Rather get it done once and be done. I am hoping i can bleed the brakes good enough so its drivable to a shop for proper bleeding procedure.
Also, should i just remove all the lines at once and then start installing new lines, or should i do all the rear ones first, the then fronts once the new rears are in. Not sure if it will make a difference when it comes to bleeding the system.

Whats everyone recommend for flex hoses? just standard replacement? i don't want to spend a lot of money, got a wedding to save up for
Eventually when i get some more money and time i plan on doing the hydroboost conversion as well and i should be done with brakes. Going to call the local salvage yard for the parts. From what i researched i am looking for an 07 tahoe hydroboost assembly or 03 escalade correct?

Thanks that will come in handy, Yeah i figure since i can get a few guys over to lift the bed, and i only use my truck on the weekends, i can take my time and not sit there and curse if the bed is in the way. My kit seems really good quality, you have to straighten the bends in a certain spot that is marked, maybe this is what makes the install easier with the bed on. Also i didn't notice a union in the RF line on mine, but if its a really PITA then i will cut it and add a union (really easy to do anyways)

So the stock brake lines are all rusted on my truck (no surprise there) I ordered a whole stainless hardline kit from RockAuto. Came with everything minus the replacements for the rubber hose sections near the caliper. (mine look in good shape). I already did the powerstop caliper/disk/pad combo from an 07 tahoe for the front and the same kit on the back of my truck.
So my question is this, I plan on pulling the bed off the truck either today or tomorrow. For people who have done this, should i start replacing the lines from the back of the truck forward or does it not matter at this point?
While the bed is off i am going to paint the frame with POR15 since i have some left over from when i had a rotting dodge truck. My frame has some kind of coating on it already but it looks like it is starting to wear off and some surface rust starting. I figure just throwing some POR15 over it will help it last a while longer.

i just replaced my front diff a few weeks ago. If you are mechanically incline, it should take you 15min to an hour to drop. (If you have an extra set of hands it goes by fast) My buddy and i had the front diff replaced in under an hour on my 03.

Well i just installed one from Provenforce yesterday as well and the ride is nice and quiet again. With the 10% off they offer for first time customer it really is a good deal. Good thing replacing the front diff in these trucks is pretty simple.

I tried searching and no answer so here's my question.
Has anyone bought the reman diff's on rock auto? I see two styles, one by RETECH and one by ATP. The ATP one is more pricier but it has a 5yr/100k warranty and no core. I read most people spend over 1k to have the diff rebuild and that comes with no warranty.

I recently had the same issue, tore my front diff apart and replaced the carrier bearings. month later noise returned that increased as speed increased (almost sounds like an out of balance wheel) Going to save up and just let the pros have at it.
