  1. That's how I've been looking at it. I'm in no rush to purchase something, I have my work vehicle and a modified 4runner for my weekend warrior right now. I can take my time and be extremely picky until I find the perfect one.
  2. Yea I understand how it goes. Is just frusterating that no one can keep their word anymore. The least he could have done was lgive me a chance to purchase it before this guy since he was holding it personally for me. Your right on the issues, and that is why I was waiting until today so I had more time to test it and really dig into what the true issue could be. O well, maybe its a blessing in disguise, I test drove a wrx and evo last night at another dealership so always other options for my weekend warrior. Just a bum deal either way.
  3. Well just got a call from the dealership. Apparently, even after telling me yesterday he would hold the vehicle for me, the dealership sold it to the guy who had been looking at it before me. He had said he didn't want it, and then apprently showed up with the money today. Not very happy about it, considering he had his opportunity and passed on it. I may go down there and tell the manager I am not pleased. I'll be sure to let them know I won't ever b e doing future business with them if they can't keep there word for even a day. So on that note, guess I'll keep shopping for the right SS hidden somewhere with low miles and owned by some old fellow. Thanks for all the help everyone.
  4. Well little update. The truck didn't sell to that guy. So today I went over it, and tomorrow will be test driving it. Apparently previous owner didn't like that the AC wasn't working which brings up a few questions. The guages stick (which I know is a common issue). The aftermarket sunroof isn't currently working (not a deal breaker and they said they would look into it). Started right up, even after sitting, probably needs a better battery though. They said it has had issues with the batter if it sits for 4-5 days. Needs fron ball joint. Back to the AC issue. They said the compressor is working because the defroster works perfect. The high pressure switch is giving the correct amount of ohms when tested. They said they did some research and are led to belive that is has to do with the the tune? I can't remember what brand or type they said. Anyone have any experience in this area? I'll try to post some photos of it as well, it seems pretty clean, and I will be overlooking reciepts on a new performance transmission they put in it tomorrow. Also noticed the intercooler is mounted horizontally in the front bumper. Never seen one like that before.
  5. finally got in touch with the guy. Yea it is a 4L60 (or 65) but its been built a little bit. Pretty new as well. Went to test drive it today, and of course we had to have a big snow storm, walked in and the guy told me its "on hold" for a guy who was waiting for a check from the bank so he will call me Wednesday to let me know if its gone. Said he might have a stock one with around 70-80k coming next week so maybe good things will still come from it. I'll be sure to let you know how thigns go either way. Thanks again for all the help fellas (and ladies) I truly appreciate it.
  6. Well I messaged him but no response. Judging from all the mods however, im starting to wonder if the transmission hasn't been upgraded as well. If there a simple way I could see if it has been upgraded to an 4L80 vs the 4L60? Some sort of serial or vin on the transmission I could look for?
  7. Yea doesn't work. I sent him a request so as long as he accepts that I'll try to get in contact with him. Thanks again for all the help. Guess I have some research to do.
  8. Thanks a ton. I'll be checking it out Monday and let you all know how it goes. Either way the deal ends up going, if what you said is true, should be one hell of a test drive.
  9. O really? Im not gonna lie, that just makes me want it more. Do yo know anything more about it? Or by chance if he was willing to talk to me about it?
  10. Ya, would be a hassel, and almost somewhat depressing, to de-mod a truck you did all that work on. I have had several modded cars/trucks and usually just sell them with the mods. Helps up my asking price and what are you gonna do with all those parts lying around? to much hassel to sell them one by one.
  11. Thanks for all the advice fellas. Here is a link to the truck, I plan on going down on Monday to look it over and test drive it. http://www.autooutletwy.com/vehicle/185178881 I may try to find a local shop that has some experience with custom motors and see if they would be willing to give it a more thorough look over for a cost. That way a more experience eye can catch anything on the motor side that I might miss.
  12. Awesome to hear. Thanks for the quick advice. I'll do some research on common rust areas and see what I can find. Is there any downside to not constantly running injection? Like say its out of fluid, and I don't refill it? I need to find the forced induction section and do some reading there as well.
  13. Hey all, I'vebeen a huge fan of the SS ever since my uncle bough a black 03 when I was younger. To me it always was the most practical, while still being a sport truck, that you could get. I've finally hit a point in my life where I can get my own and I just so happened to have found one locally. Its at a small dealership, one of those small used dealerships that kind of make you say hmmm.. Anyways the truck is an 03, has 62k miles, is black, has a procharger(Model D-1SC) set up, as well Alcohol injection, aftermarket steario, steering wheel, boost&temp, etc. guage, as well as lowered a little and other little things and from the pics the interior looks clean. Even the leather seats dont look worn to much like you would expect most leather to start doing. The only blemish I really noted was a shaved tailgate handle that was done poorly. Now they are asking 19000, and I haven't talk about negotiating that price down at all yet because I wanted to learm more about mods it has received. A supercharger wear and tear I can understand, but what worries me is the injection system. I know enough about cars/trucks to get around but I have very little experience in this area. So any tips or advice anyo of you has would be apprecaited. I know those systems are hard on motors, and wonder if I should jsut steer clear of this one since it has been modded to that point, or if its something not to worry to much and I could remove it if I would like. I am also curious as to how much power the stock tranny and AWD system can hold up to. I know alot of you guys are putting some serious power down, but I don't want to jump into a money pit right away. There is another SS I have found that seems bone stock with 79k on it for 15K, just isn't the right color I was hoping for. Would I be better looking at that instead? Looking forward to joining the community. Thanks, Mac
