    Just a heads up; I may not be making many more of these. Fewer guys are requesting them and they aren't making our truck anymore so no new takers. It's not worth the time or effort to make 1 or 2 at a time. I have to have 3 confirmed (ie prepaid) orders before I make more.

     

    It took 3 months to get the orders in last time and even then one guy backed out; which is why I have one left.

  2. Wow, I just saw this for the first time....some of you need to get a life.

     

    I think supporting members should get additional consideration, it just makes sense. However this site started out as a no fee site and still is. The supporting members voluntarily pay because they enjoy this site so much; and want to ensure it stays viable.

     

    Now I'll tweak a few noses....put a red, black, blue, and silver stock SS up and you have about 75% of the SSS owners covered. Clones are cool imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. The other trucks that are similar an SS are cool to if they are modified but they can mostly be covered by taking a pic of one of each color too.

     

    I think in a few months the point of all this anger is gonna be moot when the nice modified SSS run out. I have a higly modified SSS but I really like the other modified trucks too. (don't shoot me i like the stock ones too) My point is if it's cool and it's a member's (chevy) truck give it a chance.

  3. Let me start by saying I'm a Gaylords dealer, I also sell several other brands.

     

    The Gaylords lid's big advantage is the fit and quality of the lid. The paint has been an issue in the past; it is basicly a factory style paint job which leaves a lot to be desired. You can make the lid look almost perfect with a good professioal type polish and wax...yes you can do it yourself too. The bowing issue was restricted to Florida and Alabama coast as far as I know and the issue has beeen addressed by Gaylords. I haven't heard of it happening in the last year.

     

    The speedstur lid makes it possible to install the lid without removing our tailgate cap/spoiler.

     

    There are several versions of the Gaylords lid.

     

    The Traditional which can be bolted on (yuck) or installed with a clamp on frame system.

     

    The new TL series.

     

    And the X-2000 which comes with carpet, remote unlocking etc. it comes with everthing. the only option is the speedstur wing.

     

    All lid types are available with the Speedstur wing, carpet, remote etc as options. From the outside all these lids look identical.

  6. A magna is great out of the box and with a few additional mods can make more reliable power than your stock tranny can handle. Once you get over 7 psi boost plan on a tranny rebuild soon if you like to romp on it a lot.

     

    My reccomendation for someone just beginning this process would be the magna with a 3.1 pulley, a high flow intake so the blower doesn't have to work so hard getting the air in, headers/ exhaust with high flow cats. this will get you into the high 12's and your tranny should last you a while.

     

    If you start with the intake and exhast which nost guys do anyway it will make the blower more effective. If you have the money to do it all at once go for it.

     

    Now if you just can't stop yourself there get a 2.9 pulley that will get you up to about 8.5 boost don't forget to upgrade the belt or belt slip is gonna be a broblem. Going with any higher boost on the radix isn't really going to do you much good on this style of SC guys have done it but you don't get much return and reliability goes in the crapper above this level. Also upgrade the intercooler it makes sense at this level of boost to reduce the intake temp as much as possible.

     

    A good blower cam is a good idea at this point to take advantage of all the extra air. There are several grinds out there that will work well but the best is an ongoing debate.

     

    You will also need a preformace tune done or get your own prgram like HP tuners.

     

    You can also expect that tranny to go rather quickly it just can't handle the power in stock form. A good performnce rebuild should be in your plans and might as well get a new stall while your at it. In my opinon a 2600 or 2800 stall is the best choice if you are gonna still drive it on a daily basis. Billet servos, shift kit, hardened drum, kevlar bands etc. all should be part of the rebuild.

     

    At this point you should be in the low 12's, on a good run maybe break into the 11's. That's a lot of additional money and work just to pick up one second.

     

    If you are planning on going this fast I think there are better otions in the long run. I love my set up but it's high end limit is lower than other options. Of corse when i started there weren't all these other otions out there.

     

    If 13 sec 1/4 are good for you then the radix is the reliable choice, if there is no such thing as to fast then I wouldn't choose it.

     

    My best time with all the above done is 12.02 at 115 in the quarter. I know one guy who has gone into the 11's with a similar setup (probably had better tune). But I have over 50k on my truck and drive it every day. It is solid reliable and fast.

     

    All that said I'm going with a high end pro built 408 set up for a procharger. I'm gonna see how much the stock all wheeel drive can take.

  7. The radix isn't a bad option. I run low 12's and I drive it every day. No reliability problems with the motor... I did have to do a performance rebuild on the tranny, it just couldn't handle the power.

     

    My radix set up has beeen taken just about as far as possible and still remain a reliable street set up though. I use HP tuners to insure I don't have any detination problems. I have the radix set up for 8.5 lbs of boost. I do have long tubes and high flow cats and electric fans etc. which helps. So far 50k miles no engine problems and was one of the first radix trucks out there.

     

    All that said I'm just wating for it to go then I'm going for the full treament on the 408. No substitution for cubes. I'm gonna build mine for a procharger setup. But I'm driving it like it is until it bites the dust....so far it's rock soild.

    For those of you who want to get in on a new batch you will have to wait until after the hollidays. It took me way too long to get this batch done because my schedule is so packed and I'm a bit burned out on building them.
