  1. To My Darling Husband:

Before you return from your overseas trip I just want to let you know

about the small accident I had with the pick up truck when I turned into

the driveway. Fortunately, it was not to bad and I really didn't get hurt,

so please don't worry too much about me.

I was coming home from Wal-Mart, and when I turned into the driveway

I accidentally pushed down on the accelerator instead of the brake. The

garage door is slightly bent but the pick up fortunately came to a halt

when it bumped into your car.

I am really sorry but I know with your kind hearted personality you will

forgive me. You know how much I love you and care for you my sweet

    heart.

I cannot wait to hold you in my arms again.

    Your Loving Wife.

    XXXOOO

I don't think he is married anymore.

  2. looks good but you need to get some headers those rusty manifold take away from the beauty the valve covers add.

    :withstupid:

beat me to it, very very nice, but get some nice headers and i guess clean up everything in there a bit. Very nice addition

I was planning on keeping the Iron Manifolds. I need the extra weight over the front tires to help keep it from spinning. I'm just kidding. I'm going to get some long tubes when the right deal comes along. I'm hoping that we will get a truck in sometime soon with them and I will swap them out. That's how I got my whipple (I work at a dealership).

    LOVE the valve covers!

just one question, you're going to relocate the coils to the top of the intake?

If you look at the 6th & 7th picture down you will see that I have the braket mounted to the top side of the intake. You will also notice that I have only done the passenger side so far. I left the flat bar long on the driver side so I can cut it to length when I do the other side. I wanted the coils up and out of the way so you can see the valve covers.

  3. As some of you may recall I got a Whipple Supercharger a couple of months ago and I have been gathering parts for the install. I realized when I pulled the whipple off of a Hummer that you have to swap valve covers from one side to the other side. I decided if I was going to pull the valve covers, I wasn't going to put the stock ones back on. I decided on some "Chevrolet" valve covers and this meant relocating the coil packs and new plug wires. Since I needed new plug wires, I wanted really big ones. I went with Taylor 409 wires and now I know why I never see guys with coil packs running them. First of all, they are exspensive. Second, Taylor only sells 8mm coil pack boots and the hole in the boot is only 6mm, therefore I had to drill them out to get them to go over the 10.4mm wires. The final problem with trying to run really large wires with coil packs is that coil pack terminals are designed to be inserted into the coil along with part of the plug wire. So even with the wire stripped and crimped it is too big to go inside of the coil. :banghead: To overcome this I had to shave part of the wire to a smaller diameter to work. I also had to fab up a way to remount the coil packs. I started out trying to make complete new brackets/mounts and later decided to modify the stock ones. Needless to say, I was only able to get one side done so far. :wtf: The easiest part was bolting on the vavle covers after having a splash guard welded over the pcv hole to prevent oil consumption.

  5. The whole reason I got my SS is because a guy ran a red light and hit me. I had the truck taken to a friend of mine who own's a body shop to do the repair work. I had a choice if I wanted to have the truck totaled or not and after much thought, I decided to total it. It was a very hard decision because I had so much time and money in the truck (mainly from the frontend conversion), not to mention I only owed $2K on the truck. The main reason I decided to total the truck is I knew I was going to get a SS.

  6. if i remember right i think he had a 408 and had adapted a 350 tranny to the awd.

He got all pissed off when parish posted his number and i think not long after that he sold the truck

I emailed him and he never wrote me back. You're right about his setup. He was also running a 350 shot of n2o. Sweet truck. If he sold it, I would still like to know what is going on with that truck. He was running faster than a lot of us before the SS Silverados even came out. I think that is saying a lot because I know I have learned a lot from everyone here and he didn't have that. He was more of a pioneer with the AWD LS trucks.

  7. I was looking through some old videos that had saved on my computer and came across these. Some of you may have seen them and they may have been posted on this forum in the past. They are pretty good videos, so I figure they deserved to be looked at again.

The videos are of a guy in Wilson, NC (Kelly) with a AWD Sierra C3, what later became the Sierra Denali. He was the first guy to have a full size gen III truck in the tens. He ran a 10.93 and if I remember correctly, later that night in Nebraska (later time zone), Pharish ran a 10.92. It's been a couple of years ago, so I may have my details off a little. The one thing that I thought was impressive, is that Kelly did it with a heavier, awd, extended cab truck with a single power adder (nitrous). One thing that may suprise most of you is he was running AWD with a TH-350 transmission.

I used to talk to Kelly on the wideawakeracing forum, but it is no longer up. His track times used to be posted over at ls1tech.com before they rearranged everything, under user name C3C5. I still have his email, so if I get around to it, I will see if he is still around.

If any of you know any more details about this truck or if I have stated any errors, please chime in.
