Update* painted my front end, radiator support bracket that always turns silver on every one of these trucks I’ve seen!
All black & I wrapped the bow tie in 3D Vivvid carbon fiber vinyl & the rims have cf bow ties on center caps. I’m extremely happy with the turn out! It’s been getting hell of a lot of looks.
i Just need a roll Pan & finally do my rims black to be completely murdered out. I have these black center caps with chrome outlined bow ties for when I either wrap or paint the rims. -
So sorry for the delay Ace.
2003 LS
Was completely stock when I got it earlier this year (besides the drop in the ass)LED & Tinted Low Beams & Fog Lights.
Diode Dynamics Switch Back Turn Signals.
Black billet grill, with LED light bar behind. Wrapped bow tie in carbon fiber.Shorty gun metal antenna.
Going to paint the front bumper & chrome to finish murdering it outBlack LED tails & third brake light.
Debadged.Painted dash trim a subtle two tone.
Pioneer Double Din.
(This angel severely exaggerates the Metallic.)
Silver & Blue gauge needles, US Speedo black gauge cluster with chrome ring, Escalade gauge face. (Just need to get around to putting in the white LEDs & swapping out the stepper motors
Originally ordered a Carbon Fiber cluster but promptly returned it when I saw the awful thing they called “carbon fiber”.
Replaced all the speakers with Memphis.
Two Memphis 10”s in a Probox.
Replaced the useless NON-folding middle seat with a center console from Tahoe.
Blue LED’s replaced all stock interior bulbs.Plans: Paint front end, wrap rims gloss black, CAI, black headliner, paint calipers & underbody, oil catch can, hood, Roll pan, Dual Side exit exhaust, tonneau cover, tune
Basically going to look like this when I’m done...
And eventually a hood

I have been replacing a lot of little things to improve the overall drivability and handling. I just replaced the following:
Idler arm and bracket
Pitman arm
tierods and ball joints
flushed all fluids(front and rear dif, brake fluid, power steering fluid)
did a 2in Beltech drop
Magnaflow exhaust
CAI, Mass AF Sensor and TB Spacer
I finally have decided to start building the motor on my 03 SS. I just purchased the following:
BTR Stage 3 Cam with seals springs and push rods
BTR Timing Chain
Tick Blueprint and ported oil pump
JBA Performance LT Headers
Contemplating either having the heads Ported and polished or getting LS3 heads to bolt up with LS3 Intake???? Suggestions?
What else do you guys recommend that I can do while I have it torn apart. Overall goal is to have a dependable badass truck that makes decent power that sounds and drives as good as it looks.
Thanks!
The maintenance replacements you’ve done are exactly what I’m heading towards on my 2003. What brand did you replace the suspension with?
How’s the stage 3 Cam? -

Your steering wheel looks sooo much better than mine! Just waiting to find a deal on one. Looking forward to seeing how the SS Steering Wheel Badge looks, I’ve never seen anyone with one. I’m going to change my headliner to match the dark trim as well. Ready to see the pictures when yours is done! What kind of adhesive are you going to use on the headliner?
I’m not familiar with that “SEM Classic Coat” you mentioned.
I used Dupilcolor Viynl & Fabric Coating when spraying my dash & center console. It worked very well! It just can’t go without having a clear coat to protect it. .
I sprayed the center console & dash trim with that Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric. It covered super easy & turned out great.
I tested it out on an extra pair of sun visors to see how it worked with that kind of material & it looked very good. So I’m interested in the outcome of the brand you’re trying!
I used that Dupi-Color Vinyl & Fabric to do a subtle two tone on the dash: Gloss Black on the inner section around the double din & gauge cluster, with Black Spiral Metallic to match the body on the main outter

Lowering can be hard on suspension parts as they are often forced to work outside their normal range of motion.
Looks like your rear suspension "bumpers" are shot. I just replaced mine a couple months ago and the old ones were like yours. With a lowered truck the stock bumpers are probably too long. Take a look at what "04palass" used on his lowered SS :
http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/92062-2003-ss-building-my-dream-truck/page/5/
A little more than half way down the page, you can see the red bumpers he used. Probably Energy Suspension, also a comparison picture of the stock vs aftermarket "red bumpers".
Thanks a lot I really appreciate the help

Had no idea the suspension was so shot.
I took it to a shop & they said I need new Control arms & ball joints so that’s found to be a few hundred...
Just found this broken mount also, so shit is just stacking up.
planning on replacing as much of the suspension as possible. Any suggestions on the route to take?Truck is super clean with only 150k miles and the shotty suspension is the only issue.
thanks so much

Thanks so much for all the replies and help.
@DCAIRNS:mine is a 2003 LS, NOT an SS. I’m sorry I should have said that to begin with. Yes the drop shackles were already on it when I bought it. The ass end seems to go up & down very easily (like my ex gf) So I was thinking something was not right and When I saw the center bolt it just looked off to me like it was missing a nut or something and after reading, searching, & looking at countless images I still came home short so that’s why I made the post. Besides one or two, all the other Silverado sites seemed to have died so I really appreciate you 2-3 people that are still on here and trying to help thanks so much

Are you sure you have an 03 ? As I recall, all 03's were AWD (like mine).
I attached a couple photos of my original leaf springs, and it looks different than yours. Please note, these photos were highlighting an aftermarket rear anti-sway bar and helper bags I installed, so those bits won't match your truck. You have a squared off spring, with the plastic disk and pin going through the spring. I only have the plastic disk on the second largest spring, which has a somewhat rounded end. Also, it looks like your plastic disk pin may have broken the retaining bit and been replaced with a spring clip. Or perhaps it is a replacement that mounts that way.
Your shackle looks freshly painted, if you did not do that, then it would say that it has been replaced recently. I don't recall the stock shackles having all those holes in them.

I just bought this truck and noticed the center leaf spring bolt...is it missing something? It seems like a nut should be there but I don’t see any threads, then I thought cotter pin... I don’t know
And can anyone tell me what kind of shackle is in the second picture?
I am absolutely ignorant when it comes to trucks, so please bear with me.. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much

Welcome to the site. I recently joined as well. I’m only a couple hours north of you.
Did you figure out what the issue was you were having?

Hey everyone my name is Evan I am 31 & from southeast Georgia. Big into music, guns, racing/shows, & anything to keep busy. I recently got out of the tuner scene, selling my 03 supercharged 6 speed tiburon (third one I owned) I built for road racing & decided to get another Silverado like I had a few years ago before it was totaled.
I’ve only had this 03 for 2-3 months. It was stock except for being lowered & having the new 5 spoke rims on it. Whoever had it before took very good care of it. Since I’ve had it I’ve done the routine things like removed all badges, 20% tint, replaced the head, tail & third brake lights with tinted ones; LEDs in all upfront, installed fog lights, black billet grills, wrapped bow tie in CF, tailgate brake LED strip, locking tailgate, replaced jump seat with center console from tahoe, installed pioneer double din & two Memphis 10’s in a pro box. Black with chrome rings gauge cluster bezel, Escalade gauge face, blue needles with silver base, replaced stock gauge bulbs with cool white LEDs. Herculiner bed liner I’ve yet to put down. Overall it’s a very clean & great truck. I’m only interested in making it as aesthetically pleasing as possible & not as fast as possible. With that being said, I’ll probably only put an Air Raid intake on it, dual side exhaust & that’s probably all.
The only real plans I have left is to finish murdering it out painting the front end & rear bumper, wrapping the rims gloss black with chrome outlined bow ties on the center caps, paint calipers, replace headliner with dark grey material, sound deaden some areas, finish wrapping pieces in black and/or carbon fiber, eventually a tonneau cover and hopefully I’ll be able to come across a used hood for sale one of these days! Looking forward to being a member of this site. Cheers!
