  1. Thanks for the good vibes guys! My beloved SS is gone, hopefully to someone who will take as good a care of it as I did all these years. Traded for a Z71 Midnight Edition Silverado loaded with everything I can imagine! 6.2 Liter 420 HP, 8 speed trans. Have to go back and have the 22" Wheels put on then it will be complete.
  2. 2004 SS, excellent shape, 29,300 Miles, garage kept, No rust, almost never driven in snow or rain. Has Volant Cold Air intake, Red Painted Calipers with SS Logo. Ipod Hook-up with powered Subwoofer under back seat. (sounds awesome) and On-Star. Leather Seats. Bed has a rubber mat and has some scratches typical of any truck used to haul stuff. No dents anywhere. A couple of scratches on the body and front bumper. Also has Dynamat (Brown Bread) in all doors and I replaced the clunky steering shaft with the new one. Located in central WV. Asking $24,000 OBO I can send additional pics or upload more in another posting
  3. I went with the best Auto-Zone battery they had. (Yellow top on it). I figured for the price of a Optima, I could get almost three regular batteries. My AC Delco lasted about 3 years. I replaced it with a optima type Die-Hard and it went after 5 years and left me sitting. My truck sits months at a time but now always on a trickle charger.
  4. Are any other parts needed with these lights? They look friggin awesome!
  5. I am digging the black outline bowtie in that first pic. Where can I get one of those?
  6. Thanks guys. I ordered the PAC Audio kit.
  7. I have a 2004 SS with the 6 CD Changer. I want to add a aux jack to plug in my IPOD. Can anyone tell me what I need to do that?
  8. Talked to the manager today. He was very nice but said he or someone dropped the ball and the rim was ordered today! Now my wife will have to deal with it and doesn't know squat about whether she is looking at OEM or not.
  9. I took my tire off and put it in my work jeep and took it to NTB to get it fixed. (Had a screw in it) Some numbnuts hit it or dropped it and there is about a 2-1/2 damaged spot on the edge of the rim. The whole reason I took it off myself was to aviod as much of this shit as possible. My truck is a 2004 that has only 22,000 miles on it and is garage kept. It is in very nice shape. They said they would replace it but so far they haven't been very proactive. I am deploying to Iraq in a few days and my wife will have to deal with this shit. It's aggravating. Anybody had any experience in dealing wiith "National Tire and Battery"?

    Painted Calipers

Here's mine. I will add that you should take a dremel and grind off all the casting marks etc... to smooth things up.
  11. Why couldn't you crank the right front torsion bar some to lower the right front fender and it will bring the left rear up. We just did this to my friends 3/4 ton chevy when we changed the torsion keys. At least check to see if the right front is higher than the left front.
  12. Yep, My vacation starts the 19th (1st day of rifle deer season). Haven't been able to go the last 2 years so I am looking forward to it.
  13. Here you go, High temp paint, stickers and clear coated over. I took them off of the truck and used a dremel to grind off the rough casting edges and smooth everything up. I am very happy with the results.
  14. Sad is right. Sorry to hear that. Same family that killed my moms friend many years later. Everybody was hunting together guy hands a 30-30 to my uncles friend and shoots him in the stomach. Poor guy walked into the emergency room but didn't make it. Another guy in that family was murdered. They are a serious bunch of friggin losers just about all of them. (There were 13 kids in that family when my mom was young. The video of the kid with the 45 is fake. hammer is not back on the pistol and the sound and setup are just wrong.
  15. When my Mom was a kid she came running around the corner of the house and her friends brother had a 12 gauge shotgun. He killed his sister instantly. Some of the pellets hit my mom also. My poor mother (RIP) was always tormented by the thought of that girl lying there kicking like a rabbit. It is heartbreaking that adults aren't smart enough too make sure kids can't get to thier guns. I always tell people "Once that gun goes off, you can't do anything to change what happens". There should never be any "Accidents" with guns.
  16. I had a problem with mine once. I will sometimes go several weeks without driving it. I chalked it up to short drives and the battery not getting charged enough. I also listen to XM when I am in the garage. I slow charged it overnight and it has been fine.
  17. I used a clothes hanger to make a hook to hang the caliper from. I put tape over the hook and put it through the stock holes in the edge of the fender. Masked off the fender and frame with newspaper. As I said what little overspray I did get washed off plus I painted the frame and stuff black afterwards anyway. The caliper bracket and rotor of course I painted elsewhere as they come off without issue. Like I said the biggest improvement was using the dremel to grind off the casting marks. I will add this took me several weeks. I did one at a time each weekend. I am slow and I work out of town and don't drive the SS much. I'd say you could do 2 in a weekend and get a good finish. I mainly wanted to make sure the paint was really dry before trying to put the brakes back together due to having to handle them so much. Hope this helps.
  18. They are just looking for reasons to see if your drunk or other. The Radars when I used to run it were only accurate to +/- 3 mph. We didn't pull anybody over for less than 10 mph over the speed limit. (Unless we wanted to see if you were into something wrong) 2 mph is BS!
  19. There is one (7mm) screw right under the armrest and one under the door handle cover. Take off the triangle piece (at the top of the door, where mirror mounts, pry off, use caution so you don't scratch your paint.). Use a small screwdiver to pop off the switches cover. (look at the edge, there are two small slots. push in right there to cause the springlocks to release easier.) unhook the wiring from the switches. (Can't mess this up they only plug-in one way.) You do not need to take the screw out that holds the door pocket in at the bottom. When you get that all done, lift straight-up on the door. It will come up about an inch. Then you can lean it out towards you. There are two brackets along the bottom that hold it while you unhook the door light and tweeter. Also you do not have to take the manual lock switch off, but it does make it easier to get it back on if you don't have it in the right posistion. Speakers (woofer) pops right out. Use caution when mounting new speakers as the door cover may not cover them as well as the stock ones. You'll notice the stocks have a foam edge that covers the gap between the door skin and the door. I left the aftermarket speaker grills on under the trucks factory grills. It looked great. If I did it again I would paint the aftermarket grills a bright color to show under the stock door grills. (this was my last Chevy) Haven't changed the SS speakers...YET. I need to finish my soundproofing of the doors.
  20. I used high temp engine paint and you definately want to clear coat them it really brings out the color. I bought the kit for calipers but it is a long process trying to get it to cover. I think the spray cans are better. I put on a bunch of coats. Most of all, Get a dremel and grind off all the rough edges on everything. It looks great and the paint will cover better. I learned and improved as I went so my last caliper is the best. I took mine apart but did not disconnect the caliper from the line. I masked everything off. A little overspray gets on the frame, etc....but washes right off. I also painted the rotors (NOT THE CONTACT PART) a silver/gray color to match the wheels. (it's the high temp silver/gray?) Also get some little SS stickers (EBAY) and put on under the clearcoat. LOOKS GREAT! Here is the only pic I have on my work PC. I can post more but it won't be until the weekend. (work out of town )
