  1. Rear sliding window was not available in the earlier SS's due to heated mirrors and seats etc. being standard equipment. The mirrors heat up when turning the rear defroster on. The newer SS's were a little more stripped down at base and hade cloth seats.

  2. I just want to know if there are any downsides to the shift kit and tbtc. Has anyone had any problems down the road with theirs? I know that I will need a tranny cooler because of the rising temps, but is their anything else I should worry about?

Any input will be appreciated.

Your gas mileage will decrease slightly around town. You won't "NEED" a trans cooler unless you are frequently towing/hauling heavy loads. If you are hauling heavy loads, don't get the converter.

  3. I had my diff replaced about 2,000 miles ago and it's starting to howl again at 60 mph. It's going into the dealer next Tuesday. I'm not very happy with the truck over this issue. I've never had a diff problem on a street vehicle and to be going on the third one in 20,000 miles doesn't give me good feelings. I pretty much baby the truck, so it's not from abuse or use with the low miles I have on it.

  4. Corporate Ingenuity

A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (General Motors)

decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both teams

practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race.

On the big day, the Japanese team won by a mile.

The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate

the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior

management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.

Their conclusion was the Japanese team had 8 people rowing and 1 person

steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person

rowing. So American management hired a consulting company and paid them

a large amount of money for a second opinion.

They advised that too many people were steering the boat, while not

enough people were rowing. To prevent another loss to the Japanese, the

American's rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to

4 Steering Supervisors, 3 Area Steering Superintendents and 1 Assistant

    Superintendent Steering Manager.

They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1

person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the

"Rowing Team Quality First Program," with meetings, dinners and

free pens for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles,

canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and

    bonuses.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor

performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and

canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was

distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's

racing team was outsourced to India

  5. I had a new diff. put in my SS about 2k miles ago and it's starting to make a wining noise again. It makes the noise between 60-70 mph and it goes away when making a right turn, as in a curve in the road, and it also goes away when I totally let off on the gas pedal. The dealer said it was normal and I will alway have it. Does everybody have this noise? How about escalades and denalli's?
