I didnt want to start another thread so I figured I would post here first. For XMas my girl friend got me a Viper 771 w/install from best buy. Is there any difference between the 771 and the 791 besides the remote? Is it worth the 100 bucks and the chance of upsetting her to upgrade to the 791? Next I was thinking about adding a battery back up and an additional sensor. What is better the glass break audio sensor or the invisabeam sensor? Do I get the battery back up for the system or the battery back up siren? Is it worth it to get a mini-siren to mount under the dash? The guy at best buy I spoke to about doing the install seemed very knowledgeable about the system and my truck, is there anything I should ask him, or tell him about how I want my install done?

A buddy of mine was pulled over somewhere in west Texas doing 72 in a 70. Is this normal for Texas?. The cop asked him where he was going, he told him he was going to Goodfellow AFB ( San Angelo), and lucky for him the Cop was trying to become a Air Force pilot, he let him go. Also can someone give me the safest way to San Angelo from Vegas? I know I can use map quest but some local insight would definitly help. Thanks in advance, Matt.

Respectfully Misterp I have to disagree with you. I know you are a fountain of knowledge but your wrong about the Laser Jammers. As big as we are into our SS's there are others out there that are into defeating police Radar/Laser. In fact there is a forum just for it http://www.radardetector.net/index.php. Lots of valuable information there, in addition independant testers like consumer reports and such have evaluated indepth laser jammers and their capabilities. They do work. Yes they use Laser in AK, infact when I was driving out on my way to my new base here in Las Vegas I took a direct hit by a trooper on a overpass. I did get an alert from my detector but it would have been too late, lucky for me I wasnt speeding too bad, maybe 10 over or so. Laser if difficult to effectivly detect, however detector/jammers can either JAM the gun, or reduce their effective range (giving you time to slow down) very very significantly. Check into in MisterP I am sure you will be very surprised. <Nervous about challenging MisterP and his knowledge, will he send a roaming band of Ninjas for me?>

Wow, I was hoping not to spend that much. Those prices are insane, considering I might use the DVD function a few times a year. Also not interested in NAV. Know any where I could pick up last years models? Thanks for the help.

Need a little help from some experts. I am looking to add a in dash dvd player. Now I already have pioneer head unit, with sirius and ipod adapters. I dont want to just trash the adapters, so I am hoping to get a pioneer in dash dvd. Now this is not a major priority to me, can anyone reccommend maybe last years model or something I can pick up for cheap. Or where to even look for a deal.

Well, I really like the look of the new Avalanche, but I know they are dogs performance wise. But if I could have the speed and performance of the SSS in a Avalanche I would be thrilled. I would have comfort for my passengers, and power and control for me. Oh and I forgot to mention in the original post, a good braking system. I have a lightly modded SS but I still love the performance. Wish I had more but I am going to hold out for a new toy. (Looks to the sky) Avalanche SS mmmmmm.........

I had an idea, just a thought. Would anyone else be interested in a SS Avalanche? With LS2 blown at a modest boost, tuned exhaust, AWD, beefed up tranny. Slightly lowered suspension, nice 20 or 22 inch wheels. Rectractable or easily removable lid. All the interior perks of the SS, plus brushed aluminum accents. A GPS/SOUND system, but with a perk. A intergrated contol system, for ride control/suspension, and engine control (differnt engine modes, and transmission modes something like a towing, economy, touring, sport and Super Sport, and possibly a E-85 mode). HID headlight and fog lamps, LED signal lights. I would be first in line. If I had the cash I would build it myself.

I am going to be in West Texas, San Angelo to be exact for a few months. I was approved for my retraining so I will be attending the DoD Fire Academy in November. I cant wait. I was wondering if there are fellow SS'ers in San Angelo could give me some in sight in to San Angelo. Maybe even someone to hang with. Hope to hear from someone soon.
