  1. I chose the Baer Extreme Plus for both front and rear. 2 piece rotors cross drilled / slotted in the front and 1 piece cross drilled for the rears. Russell stainless steel lines. Wilwood 570 brake fluid. I started installing (solo) on the 26th of Dec. I took me about 2 1/2 hours per wheel to install the bracket, caliper and brake lines. I chose to install the new Stainless steel brake lines after installing the calipers this allowed for proper rerouting of the new lines since they would have to follow a slightly different path. The new lines were just a little bit shorter! The toughest part is loosening some of the ( original ) caliper bolts they were a b!tch. I then removed the original calipers, however, I left them connected to the brake line and just placed them on the control arm. This allowed me to connect the new bracket, new rotor, and new caliper with out having to rush and worry about a disconnected brake line dripping brake fluid. Once everything was installed, I removed the old brake line and connected the stainless steel brake lines. Bleeding the system was pretty easy (Baer) recommends the old fashion way. No bleeding pump, or special bleeding tools! Just a helper ( in my case my GF). Pump the brake pedal and open the bleeder valve until all of the bubbles are gone. Overall not to difficult ( especially if I could do it!) LOL All of the tools used were standard type, no special tools required. A bit expensive (but you can't take it with you when you die....Right?). But I saved some money by purchasing on "Black Friday" which also included free shipping. The kit did not include SS brake line. I had to order Russell Brake lines separately. 01/04/10: I am still in the process of seasoning the rotors/pad bedding so I have yet to really test the brakes. Everything seems to be running well. The manufacturer (Baer) requires this process. See more pictures at: http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/SS4154/Visit My Website
  2. Ok, guys well it is finally in and done. Had to wait till after Xmas to start the install. I wish I could post the before and after pictures but can't seem to be able to post them on this site. I finished the install today. Each (wheel) took about 2 hours to complete, tomorrow, I will finish the bleeding process tomorrow. Go to the Suspension/Brake Tech Forum I posted pictures there. I will follow up with additional info. as soon as I am done with the rotor seasoning and pad bedding. So far everything is running well no issues. 5. Hey guys, Thanks for the warm Welcome, Just a few more things about me and my SS I want to share. If you wonder why it took so long for me to return to the SS site. In 2004, I celebrated my divorce settlement with A Brand new SS ( yup paid cash) and I was able to keep my house and no.....alimony! and no child support! The look on her face was priceless when, I showed up to pick up my boys in a new SS truck. Years later "The hag" took me to court and she did not fair to well with her demand for child support. One broken ankle and 2 surgeries, later I'm back to the SS lifestyle!
  6. I'm from So.California I am the original owner of my SS. It has been a while since I joined however now I'm able to pour some $ into my Red '04 SS. I'm not very "savvy" but, also not afraid when it comes to working on the my truck. I am about to receive my Baer Extreme 6 piston brakes (Fr&Rear) and, it will test my mechanical skills. I am trying to post pix of my truck, however that is also has been a challenge. lol I'm sure I will figure it out. As soon as I'm done (weather permitting) I will post.... There is an unbelievable amount of amazing trucks on this site, great ideas and a good sense of camaraderie within the SS club. Be SSafe! 2004 Silverado SS Victory Red 39k mi.
