  1. looks like one of my stock wheels after I caught a curb this winter hidden in a not so well plowed parking lot
  2. I have 14 speakers but not in the application that you're looking for as it's 8 8"s.
  3. rds is what some channels use to communicate info for display on a RDS compatible HU some use it to display traffic info, news headlines, song name, etc It's up to the radio station what they send for display. Around here there's a certain station that'll display song title and artist (like a MP3 ID3 tag) then when he's talking he'll type in whatever....like the station phone number or random thoughts in his mind...or what he'd like to do to the lady talking to him on air (that's landed him in hot water before though).
  4. I figured worst case scenario is you could take 2 singel din mounting kits and have them plastic welded together. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> for the weight of the eq and the cd player together...I wasn't going to give the plastic the chance to even try ...the only thing I was looking into the kit for was the bezel and the plastic mounting bracket so I could just scan it into Unigraphics and machine it but since I couldn't find one I just designed it around the tabs on the factory unit and drilled holes in the blank for the aftermarket mount
  5. I couldn't find one around here so I just fabbed a metal bracket up. My dad helped me out with the plastic bezel from his shop.
  6. while I was watching that...I ran across this now this is a sled
  7. I have the 420s and to put it to rest they are non directional but you can't flip the rubber on the wheel due to it's outside sidewall (it's kinda like a bead lock). Only choice is to dye/magic marker the white wall...or what I'd do is either talk to the seller and see if it can be worked out or sell them and buy a different set. my $0.02
  8. What the guy was probably talking about losing the xm was that your subscription is tied to the radio ID of that HU. So to keep your subscription after you get the antenna issues sorted out you have to call xm up and tell them you swapped HUs and you have a new radio ID to be put on your account and to delete the old one.
  9. my full bown system that I wanted to do as cheap as possible with what we sell @ my workplace cost me around $1,000 JVC HU (kdar860) (I know what you're thinking but I wanted a HU that didn't have knowbs so it'd match the EQ...all buttons) Pioneer 15 band EQ (deq7400) one MTX amp for subs (TA7801) one infinity amp for component set and other speaker pair (7541a amp ..6010cs / 4612cf) 8 8"s of some cheap ass speakers, Pryamid (but the right enclosure and when I pull up or drive by people say, "you're kidding...8s...$11 a piece?") of course oak mdf wood wood stain and wiring...distro block for 0 gauge....optima yellow top battery ...etc etc
  10. Nice, I have a Shopman1 bowtie with red inlay! How does the blackout on the headlights affect the actual distance and/or clarity of the light at night? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have the same avs light covers and it depends on the lights you have. Stock it affects but put some others in there like the silverstars or better and with the covers on it looks like it's about stock.
  11. New encryption schemes come out often to try to curb duping. Slysoft's AnyDVD in conjunction with DVDShrink, GordianKnot, etc will yield steller results everytime.
  12. wood for sound...fiber for looks best of both worlds...build a wood box then fiberglass it although i bought oak mdf and stained mine
  13. Well in my opinion a lot of people that have those usual questions mentioned in Kaotic's post, all have a similar focus. One question I have has to do with what I want to do though. I want to do a typical setup minus the super or turbo...at least for now. - CAI (volant) - Corsa exhaust or maybe Dynatech SuperMaxx setup - shift kit - torque converter (2800 or 3000 stall) - aggressive cam (for N/A, if I have to buy a new one when/if I go FI then I can deal with that) I just don't really know what cam to go with for that setup but may also offer decent performance if and when I do go with a super or turbo (and by what grind am I limited to one or the other type by what I pick). I have been pouring (searching) over old posts and really with the limited talk about a cam to go with n/a with a basically stock engine about the only one is the GT2-3. But I wonder about the aggressiveness of it (don't get me wrong I want it streetable but I want this bitch to run also [happy medium]). Wether or not new heads [and possible ones] will also benefit me in either setup (FI or not) is yet another in my endless questions. I know this is a hassel with all the newbie questions but the only crap I've messed with was on an old '94 S-10. I never got to the point of a turbo because the SS came out before I got to that point.
  14. only got $550 back this year...oh well...paid off a new Onkyo receiver I bought a couple months before
  15. depends on the subs that you are going to put in, what their specs are wether you burn them up or not personally you can take the cheapest of subs, build the right enclosure for them and have them sound outstanding if you get that box you have to try to find the subs that can handle the smaller box volume otherwise you'll burn the speakers up if you turn it up
  16. Beers: Guiness, Strongbow, Amberbock, Killian's - A Black Velvetine is my favorite drink right now Strongbow on the bottom Guiness on top Hard: Just about anything....with or without mixed with about anything
