  1. I would recommend staying away from plasma. Yes they have a wow picture and a good WAF, but they have more than their share of issues. Along with color fading, they also burn in quite quickly. A lot of people view 4:3 in wide screen mode just to prevent the burn-in, but that does very strange things to the image. Some sports are even stranger. First, even in this digital age, good CRT units, both from & rear projectors still provide the best images. I would suggest DLP then LCD. Rear projections are a lot cheaper than good front projectors and don't have the room lighting problems. Before forking out a lot of money, there are a number of good, higher end publications that provide reviews on all a lot of the manufactures. Take some time to read them. There are a number of manufactures that are playing games with numbers. Mitsucrap - most models - and Pioneer -some models - are frequent offenders. Mitsu got caught by several mags and are changing their ways on some of their '07 models. Also, I would suggest going to a good, higher end dealer to get some knowledge, learn what they think is good and hopefully see some video displays set up correctly. A lot of the "big box" stores don't know squat. What ever you get, buy a video set-up DVD and take the 2 hours to set it up. Your display will last longer. Just my $.02 worth.
