  1. I got your e-mail and sent one back to you.
  2. Fix that annoying clunk for good. I purchased a NEW intermediate steering shaft for my 03 Silverado SS and NEVER installed it. I'll sell it for 50 bucks, plus $5 shipping. P/N 19153614 Fits all years of the SS Silverados. I accept Paypal, cashier's check or personal check (a couple of days for the check to clear.) If you buy it off of GMpartsdirect.com like I did, you will pay a Minimum of $66.00 It's only a 11 bucks savings, but hey, it's 11 bucks! E-mail address is [email protected] I don't have the box it came in, but I would be happy to take some digital pictures and send of it. Let me know. Brian
  3. No, not really handy. I'd have to search as well. I'm not greasing it, putting it in dry. I guess I can take it out if I need to. Knox
  4. If someone could please let me know this answer pretty quick, I would really appreciate it. I'm going to be tearing this thing apart in about an hour and a half. Thanks. Brian
  5. Do I need to pack grease in the new shaft before I install it? I ordered the latest and greatest Intermediate steering shaft off of GM Parts Direct last week and going to do the install tonight. Just wanting to check to make sure. Thanks. Brian
  6. You're right. The DIC was checked to Driver side only. I switched it at lunch and now it works, but I noticed that the passenger mirror rotates down almost all of the way to the bottom on the downward position. The driver side is correct, Any thoughts on that?
  7. I haven't been driving my 2003 SS much here lately. I drove it to work this morning and noticed that when I put the truck in reverse, only the passenger side mirror rotated downward for backing up. I tried it several times, but I can only get the driver side to change between drive/reverse. I did happen to grab Driver 2 key set. The mirrors fold in fine for going through tight places and you can control the mirror in any direction from inside with the mirror controls. It rotates in any direction just like it should with the control. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone else have this problem? Is it related to Driver 2 key set? Is there a setting? I think I just fingered it out. Curb side assist?????? I have it set to driver only. Damn. Brian
  8. I didn't think this day would come, but the SS needs to go. I was transfered to a new location for my job and I'm having to commute about 50 miles a day each way. Needless to say, the SS doesn't get that great of mileage, so I had to buy an economy car. I purchased an 04 VW Jetta with the Turbo Diesel in it. The little thing is fun to drive and I can rod the piss out of it and still get 43 MPG. I have 2 vehicle payments now, 2 insurance payments and it's not helping the fun fund any. 2003 Silverado SS, RED. 92000 Miles The truck is STOCK excluding the minor mods below. Oil change done every 3,000 Miles. K&N Air Filter Billet Grill Insert ECM Retune for 93 Octane fuel. Speed Limiter Delete. OEM Tires with about 15,000 miles on them. I'd say the tread is about 2/3 there. Every Option available for the 2003 Model. No Dents, Dings or any major scratches on the truck. The bed has been treated like a truck. I lost my bed mat one night blowing the cobs out. Surprise surprise that I lost the bed mat around 135 mph. Never wrecked or any damage done. The windshield has a couple of rock chips, but no stars or cracks. Things that need attention, but are Minor: 1) Intermediate Steering Shaft Needs Replaced. It's not bad, but you can hear it inside. I think it's about 80 bucks + Labor if you don't do it 2) Right Arm rest on driver seat needs re-upholstered. Where my elbow sits while driving it cracked. I priced the repair for about 40 bucks. 3) New Bed Mat - 50 bucks at truck shop. Or it can be painted over with a spray in liner. That's what I was going to do. This is a very sharp truck. I get compliment after compliment on it when I drive it. 3 months ago, I stopped at a local Sonic Drive In to get a drink after washing and chamoising off the SS. I was given the cool car of the day card. Free meal the next time I stop. That's it. I am the 2nd Owner. I purchased the truck when it had around 26,000 Miles on it. It runs good, drives good and I really hate to see it go, but the pocket book is paying too much for it. $13,500 and it's yours. Zip Code: 64801 (Joplin, MO) Cell Number: 870-350-4707
  9. Here are some negatives to my SS. The inside of the bed is scratched up some. I use mine as a truck. It can be covered with a lay in mat or a spray in bed liner. I had planned to get a color matched spray in liner one of these days. I need a new Driver side tail light. I found one on ebay for $50. The driver side seat need the right arm rest re-cover or replaced. That's the only cosmetic problem that can't be fixed easily. It needs a new intermediate steering shaft, but I could purchase it and then the person would only be out labor. I owed $16,500 on my truck. If I listed it in the Truck Trader or another newspaper that sells vehicles, could I get 17 out of it? Brian
  10. I am seriously thinking about letting my 2003 Silverado SS go........ I am about to take a new job that will require commuting every day. Gas is 3$ a gallon and I do not want to spend $20 a day in gas. What would be the best way to unload it? I have 84,000 miles on my 03 SS. I change the oil every 3000 miles and have not had one problem with the truck. The exterior of the truck is probably a 9 out of 10. No door dings or dents, but some possible rock chips here and there. Tires are less than 2 months old and interior is very nice as well. It is a non smoker truck. My 03 has every available option offered. I had the PCM re-programmed and added a K&N air filter. I want to get a VW Jetta with a TDI. I'm going to probably add an oil conversion kit and burn french fry grease in it. Don't flame me!!!!!! I know I know..... But getting 45 MPG and fuel costing 50 cents a gallon, the savings in fuel compared to now will make the car payment. I will drive it for a couple of years, then get some kind of nice truck. What is my SS worth? Would I be smarter to try to sell it outright to an individual or trade it in at a dealer? Just curious and any help or input would be appreciated. Thanks. Brian
  11. Would I need to find a nice upholstery shop that would be able to do this? I'd rather have it recovered than buying one at a salvage yard. But if I'm not satisfied with that, I can buy just a new arm rest? Thanks for the replies. Brian
  12. I drive my SS quite a bit. I'm coming up on 75,000. My right arm/elbow rides on the arm rest in the same spot. It started to get really shinny, and about a month later it started to get a small crack. Needless to say, it's beyond a small crack now and it's getting more of them. It bugs the heck out of me because it kind of pinches your skin if you move just right. Any ideas on how to fix this? I know, don't use the arm rest, but it's what's normal to me. Thanks. Brian
  13. Let me know if you figure out anything and I'll do the same. It's colder than heck here this week. Been in single digits at night and 20's durring the day. Roads were terrible last weekend, maybe it could have something to do with that. Brian
