  1. Are the 2006 Calipers PBR 2's and the 2003 PBR's? To upgrade to 2006 fronts, is it as easy as buying the calipers and rotors, or would I also need brackets? I would like to go to 14", but I run 17" standard Silverado rims & Blizzaks for the brutal winters up here and need the brakes to fit under that smaller rim. Thanks for the help!
  2. I know, but it kills me to put rusty old stuff back on when I have shiney new stuff! The bottle jack trick only took a few minutes to do, so it wasn't a big hassle.
  3. I installed mine last night, haven't driven it yet, but I did run into the same problem some guys had here. The threads came up a little short so I couldn't thread the nut on, so I took the factory bottle jack and placed it under the endlink bolt on the bottom control arm and started jacking it up, which squished the poly bushing enough to get the threads to poke thru the top bushing and allowed me to thread the nut on, no ratchet straps needed. I have my Bilsteins on the way, then I will be doing an Addco rear bar with Energy links and bushings, so I can report the handling changes in three steps.
  4. I am planning to install the energy suspension swaybar upgrade bushings and end links, as well as replace the stock shocks with Bilsteins. Has anyone used Energy Suspension Poly bushings in the shock eyes instead of the Bilstein bushings? How was the ride and did they squeak? Also, you wouldn't happen to know the part number I need would you? Thanks much bros!
  5. Thanks for the info gents. I haven't noticed any whirring noises at speed, only the usual groaning/howling when turning, like when pulling into a parking lot. I will listen more closely today, and hit up the dealer and report back. Thanks again.
  6. I just noticed my front pinion seal is leaking, got the gear oil smell when I was near the grill after a long trip. Truck has 56k on it. When the truck had about 33k the bearings were replaced in the front diff due to the groaning noise when turning. The bearing replacement did not help. I have a couple of questions. 1.) Should this repair be covered by GM becuase there was already an issue with this front end which they covered about 20k miles ago? 2.) Is it possible that it is leaking from something they screwed up during the install-I am under the truck often enough to notice a leak, and it just started, 20k miles after the dealer was in there. 3.) If not, how much should I expect to pay to have the seal replaced? 4.) How likely is it that that other damage exists? I just serviced the front diff with Royal Purple 90/140 at 50k. I used the thicker gear oil in an attempt to quiet the diff down. There was some fuzz on the plug, nothing horrifying, about the same amount as shown on Mr P's how to. Thanks in advance!
