  1. I know it's early, but if any of you are for sure coming and can afford the payment I'd appreciate it if you could register and pay. I want to keep some momentum going with this event to make sure people don't think it's dead...the more we get to sign up, the more will continue to sign up. I know I haven't been active on this board for very long, but some of the guys here know me and can vouch for me, plus I'm a mod on pt.net with a good reputation

Also, if any of you have any other truck related forums you know and would like to extend an invitation, feel free. I'm all for Lightnings or SRT10's or even one of these bad boys...I don't care!

  2. We're starting to get a lot of interest in this. There are a few of us planning on making the drive from AZ, some from LA and FL, and one at least from as far away as PA....if any of you are interested, check it out!

Guys, I'm still checking on your questions as well. I'm about 99% sure that diesels are fine and that spectating will be free, but I want to hear for sure so there's no chance that I give you the wrong info.

  3. Just curious if we don't want to race the truck, can I just come and hang out or do I have to pay?

I think that would be ok...I'll double check it though. I think it's just a flat rate for the track for the day and we decide who comes in and who doesn't.

i'm down... is this track open to diesels too??

I don't see why not. I'll double-check this too though.

  4. Dude it's hard to make it work anyhow, I dated one of my friends I knew since Jr high for 6 months recently and after knowing her 15 years it still went south. She wanted to get hitched after dating just that short a time and since I bought everything for valentines EXCEPT the ring she decided to step out, sucks to lose a girlfriend but also a friend of 15 years over a disagreement. She justified saying we knew each other enough why wait LOL She got what she wanted though we aren't even 2 months down the road and she's already set a wedding date for oct 11 OF THIS YEAR oh well just my 2 cents

Wow...reminds me of my ex. She wanted to get married and have a family...we would fight about it all the time because I can wait another few years. We broke up in December 2006, she was in another relationship by March 07, engaged in April 07, and married in Feb 08. Less than a year together and already hitched. All I can say is that I'm glad it wasn't me, lol.

  5. IMO a guy & a girl aren't capable of being BFF's. sooner or later she's bound to meet someone who doesn't like you hanging around as much as she does. stop being a **** and go for it, your friendship is doomed anyway. just a matter of time.

just my seriously jaded opinion, take it for what it's worth. in case you're bigger than me & could find out where i live, i was just kidding about you being a ****. :uhoh:

As much as it sucks, I have to agree with this. If you don't do anything about it and just sit there quietly you're preparing yourself to be devastated when she meets some other guy and falls for him. If you wait, you'll be disappointed sooner or later. If you do it now, there's a chance you'll be disappointed and a chance that things could turn out great. 50% chance now is a hell of a lot better than 0% chance in the future.

  6. IMO go cheap, or go all the way. Cheap = a low mileage 4L65 pulled out of a wreck; all the way = professionally built trans by a proven builder.

    Mr. P.

Agreed. Depends on what blew up your tranny. If you're on stock power and the tranny just happened to take a dump for whatever reason, I'd just replace it with a cheap stock pull-out. If you're making enough power to break a 65E, then I'd go with a fully built trans like Mr. P said.

  7. If that AFR gauge is for a narrow band O2 sensor, don't bother putting it on your truck. All you'll get is a pretty light show. That being said, if you do decide to run it, that's the only one that will require anything other than a power hookup. I don't remember which O2 wire it needs to hook up to, but I'm sure someone will post up here soon and tell you which one.

Other than that, for voltage you just need a switched power source, and the vac/boost gauge doesn't require any electrical hookup other than the backlight (I'm assuming it's a mechanical gauge with a port on the back for an air line). None of those gauges require a wiring diagram of the truck IMO. If your guy can't figure out those simple gauges I personally would find another place to take it.

  8. GM tried to change the thermostat housing design in '03, the thermostat valve is physically cast into the housing, they do not come apart; later GM reverted back to the prior design used in the last 80 years of the automobile (!) the thermostat valve is a separate piece from the housing. If you have an '03 you can get a low-temp thermostat specific for that year but costs about $55 because you are getting not only the thermostat valve but the housing too, or you can try to snag a setup off a later motor and retrofit but I am not sure about the interchange on that, and I've been told that even in the later motors there is a difference between '05-06 and '07+ :dunno: The experts on this would be SLP, I'd give them a call - very good people there too they were nice enough to give us a VIP tour...

    Mr. P. :)

As far as I know the 99-02's were the same way as well. I know my 01 had the integrated housing and t-stat. It was either 04 or 05 that they went back to the separating them again.

  9. The difference is in the water pump, not the fan type. IIRC it was 05 when they started going to the separate t-stat and housing, but I could be wrong. Either way, for your 03, you need the whole assembly, as you can't just replace the thermostat by itself.

If and when you guys replace your water pumps, GM doesn't make the older style ones anymore. You'll have to go to the 05+ style, which means that t-stat swaps become much cheaper :)

  10. Awesome thanks. I'll have to look up a place here in AZ. Anyone live here and know where to go to get a good tune? All I've heard of is Pro Dyno in the Phoenix area?

I replied in your other thread....most local tuners here contract through a guy named Nic. I've met him and seen him tune vehicles before.....I know it's my own opinion, but I wasn't impressed. I looked at one of the tunes he did on my buddy's Procharged GTO and he did some cheating with the PE tables to get the AFR right. Granted, the GTO's fuel system wasn't up to par, but something just seems wrong about that to me. He does seem to have a very loyal following and his customers are generally happy, but they seem to be the type that don't know any better anyway. Long story short, the local tuners here will generally do a WOT tune on a dyno for you. IMO what you need is a good street tune, and someone who will spend more than 15 minutes working on it. PM the guy I put in your other thread....he's my roommate and is a very good tuner and will spend a good amount of time working on your truck instead of throwing a canned tune in it and tweaking it a little bit.
