  1. Okay so lately my tranny ahas been acting up! Im wondering if you guys could diagnose the problem...

Symtoms: So when i come up to a stop or a red light and I sit there long enough when i go to give it gas it lags and feels like im in nuetral and then the gear jumps in... almost like im driving a stick and i put it in first but im not letting up on the clutch enough to get it rolling.... It only happens as im leaving from a complete stop.

just talked to my friend who builds trannies for gm. mine was doing the exact same thing and he put a transmission fluid pressure switch and a pressure control solenoid. both can cause this issue.

  2. FLOWMASTER. mines dumped. Everyone hears me coming. My dogs learned the noise and are waiting at the door for me when I get home. It has a drone and I don't care. I love it.
i say race him for titles and if you win you can use it for a wheel chock*sp?not sure where that quote came from lol
  3. Thanks for all the complements guys. I enjoyed doing a lot of maintenance on the SSS today. I changed the rear diff fluid, front diff fluid, the transfer case fluid, power steering fluid, trans fluid, bleed the brakes and looked for the fuel filter. Which I never found either. hmm. I need to do some detailing on the truck still didn't have time to do it today.

fuel filter is in the gas tank

  4. After reading all of the posts here I would suggest checking two things.

First: Check all front end parts (example: ball joints, bushings, shocks, etc.)

Second: Have a different shop check the alignment again.

I have experienced some strange front end shimmies when experimenting with

alignment settings (drag race settings) on my z28 Camaro. The best setting

always ends up being the factory settings. The new alignment machine you

mentioned may not be calibrated correctly, or the mechanic may not know how to

use it yet. Anyway those are my suggestions. Good luck, and post the fix here

    for us.

Good ideas thanks. I'm planning to have it checked this week.

  5. does any one have 68-72 nova parts i need doors and a pass side fender and hood i know this is a silverado site but worth a try lol cus i cant find these part any were also tbss for sale 07 with 16 000 miles on it black on black

I have a stainless steel grill for it. $25 plus shipping. It is in good shape and no dings. I may have other stuff too but I will have to look.

  6. As long as your brake pad is not worn to the wear indicator you can reuse the old pads. Squeaking occurs because of vibration that occurs between the back of the break pad and the brake caliper. If you pads are good all you have to do is remove them and clean the backs of the pads using brake cleaner, and wire brush to get off the heavy crud and or rust. Then apply an anti squeak like Permatex 82017 disc brake quiet. Let it cure per the manufacturers directions, and reinstall the pads. The squeak will be gone.

My factory brakes have 73,000 miles on them and they are still going. If you brake

hard I’m sure the pads will not last as long as mine. :)

my truck has 93k miles and still has all original brakes, front pads are still at 6-7mm. i doubt you need pads, im probably harder on my truck than most.

  7. I would lean towards a driveline issue with the front diff, driveshaft, or axles......I don't believe something like this steering related. Have you checked the front axles for torn CV boots or excessive play in the CV joints?

I know there are no torn boots, but i have not checked the front end yet, pretty sad i work 30 feet from 20 racks and ive been too busy to have someone lift it up.

  8. have you checked the brake rotors to see if they are warped

i have no pulsation when braking and when this occurs i am not using the brakes so i am not sure why that would be an issue? i am just letting of the gas when i get to my desired speed

    thanks

  9. R you runing 20 or bigger? the reason i ask is cause my truck does the same thing every once in awhile. it has never done it on my stock ss wheels but as soon as i put the 24s on it will shake. but it only happens every once in awhile. same when i had my 96 GMC ECSB. And when it starts to shimmy i put my foot in it and it goes away.

    stock wheels and tire size

  10. You've done alot of steering and suspension work. It's possible you have a defective part. Have you taken it back to the shop to have them reinspect all the tie rods and ball joints? I'ld start there before you look at anything else.

I installed all of the parts myself. I was a GM technician for 8 years so im pretty confident in the install. everything but the tires was over 7500 miles ago, the tires were about 300 miles ago. this issue has started in the last 500 miles. not sure if that helps

  11. Are you lowered or at stock height? I know some here have expeiranced shimmers w/ lowered trucks. I am not a tech phenom though...but if your lowered it could be that.

Sorry. forgot to add that, truck is stock ride height with no aftermarket suspension mods.

  12. Alright all of you technical phenoms, I need your help! I am having an issue with my girl. She is a 2003 SSS, 92k miles. On hard accel intermittently, (i.e. getting on the entrance ramp to the highway), after I reach the desired speed I let off and I have a nasty shimmy that shakes the steering wheel. It tapers off after a few seconds and is fine. Sometimes it does it, others it does not. If I stay in the throttle it will not do it. I never experience this on normal driving. It has new tires, alignment on a new state-of-the-art machine, newER front inner and outer tierod ends, pitman and idler arm. The rear driveshaft has also been replaced in the last couple of years with a new one. In the last 30k miles the front and rear differentials have also been rebuilt as well as the trans. Everything has been put back OEM. It is quiet going down the road so my mind is trying to eliminate bearing issues, no vibrations either so driveshaft weight/u-joints dont seem to be a problem either. Has anyone experienced this issue?:confused::confused::confused::wtf::wtf::uhoh::uhoh::uhoh:
