  1. you wont get 15 psi on a 427+ with a v2 vortech youll need at a minumum a v-1 t trim or if i were you a ysi.

not trying to bash your selection of parts but i would have went with an lsx block over a ls7 , one the ls7 casting isnt the best compared to a lsx . for boost iron block tend to be mor ereliable and have longevity. i dont know what you paid for the ls7 block but an lsx can be had for about 1800 bucks.

For pistons you will probbaly need something custom . i am using diamond which are very common but a bit heavier. there are alot of good pistons out there, je, mahle etc.

I talked to the guys at Lingenfelter and they are running one LS7 1600hp boosted no problems here's the link http://www.lingenfelter.com/documents/KoernerZO6_000.pdf

he also said like most others the 6.2 wont take boosted 600-800 hp

LS7 block =$2389 ready for assembly

LSX block =$1870 plus boring to 4.125"/honeing/parrel decking just that m/c work is way over the LS7 and maybe align hone so I have herd thats been a problem

  2. Whats everyones choice for pistons and rings for a boosted app

Arias, Je, Malhe, Diamond ect thats about my pic :chevy:

Also if anyone knows of a good deal for pistons let me know!!

    6.0L is fubar now

so here is the new build, most parts here or on the way

    New ls7 block

    Je -29cc Pistons

    hellfire rings

    callies 4.00" crank

    callies rods

used set of cnc port LS7 heads

LS7 carb intake to get away from #7 cyl dieing in a boosted app

    60lb injectors

  3. Mr P and Zippy are the resident experts on transmissions. I borought those guys up to them once before and they didnt like what they saw. The thing is that these 4L65E tranny's are very sensitive and you really have to know what you are doing with them. There are custom things that need to be done other than throw some "goodies" in them. I think one of the biggest flaws was the type of clutch packs they use dont hold up. They will chime in I am sure. I doubt that trans would hold 700hp, there arent many tranny's out there that will. Also, keep in mind their warranty is just a selling tool. You would pay for shipping to send it back and forth etc. If they are even still around to honor your claim.

The two favorites that are proven power holders are the Finish Line Transmissions and Rossler Trans. Either one you are looking at $2-3k. What are you rmods blownfogger?

    Mods are

V2 strim intercooled 15psi at wot

    l92 heads

    60lb inj

    thunder racing cam .600" 216 232

    3000 yank stall

    AWD 6.0L

    dual 3" with headers

just to give you a idea

    would assume 550hp

    will not be spending $2000- 3000 on a 4L65e

  4. Has anyone used thes guys?

    Goodfellas

    1 YEAR/UNLIMITED MILES

HP Range is 700HP; 700 foot pounds of torque.

The BOSS transmission comes with only the finest components and is built to be the highest standard on the market. This is the third level of transmission in my organization, and is built to take a beating by you, and to give a beating to others in every way. Guaranteed to be the toughest, meanest, most durable transmission on the market at its level. When you have this transmission in your car or truck you will know who the Boss is on the standards of horsepower and torque at the street, strip, or hill. The person taking control will be you!

    THE BOSS Comes with:

A Goodfellas reprogramming kit (which means we rework the valve body and go through it completely to make sure there are no stuck valves).

The 13 Z-PAC from Raybestoes(which replaces the factory 5 clutches in the 3-4 drum). The 13 clutches are heat treated steels that withstand more heat, which in turn gives you more life of the transmission.

Raybestoes high temp energy clutches throughout the rest of the unit, along with all new steels, bushings, and rings.

Sonnaxs' .500 boost valve (which ensures a nice crisp clean shift with no delays).

    4140 hardened pump rings

Teflon Pump bushing (which allows more abuse)

    13 vane pump rotor

    29 element sprag

    Sonnax Wide Open Throttle Valve

Sonnax Sunshell (which is three times thicker than factory).

    Hardened input shaft and drum.

    3 inch wide Kevlar band

    5 pinion planetary

Corvette servo (which has 30% more holding power, which will give you that full throttle shift with out burning up the band).

We block off the 1,2,3,4 accumulators to give you a solid and firm crisp shift, and discard the springs in the accumulator because sometimes they will break and create problems.

  5. the "piston housing on the side of the tranny" sounds alot like the servos to me.... other than inside the trans pan, there is no part on the outside of the tranny other than the servos.

the snap ring popping off is very common, and unfortunately it almost always takes parts of the case with it, ruining the entire housing. this is more than most of the time improper installation of the snap ring like smoke eater said. when they arent all the way seated they shoot off when pressure is exerted.

its been installed since August, the part of the housing that broke is from the snapring out, like there was extreme presure in there the snapring didnt pop out the housing broke the ring of alum off

  6. I'd have to say that the metal snap ring came off. The metal snap ring is the only thing that holds the whole servo into the pan itself unless something internally popped with huge forge that it blew the snap ring off. Maybe when the snap ring was put back on, it was not in the 2nd groove and was just waiting to pop off.

I think I was misleading you, changed the post, the piston housing on the side of the trany.

  7. Yesterday came home on a flat deck tow truck, driving along at cruise speed my truck all of a sudden felt like the brakes were dragging then I hear this bang and parts dancing on the road, found a couple PCs and new rite away where they came from it was part of the trans apply pistons housing that had broke off and let the billet pistons fly on the side of the trany, and I think to myself If it weren't for bad luck id have no luck at all !!!!!

Any ideas on why this would happen ?
