trying to test drive a sss this weekend.

actually I do love performane but I don't like hauling really unless I have to so hauling isn't the selling point for me. I mean ya I know a lightning very well can kick ass. I have seen with my own two eyes a SSS kick 2 harleys ass. Really honestly I wish i could get the lightning and the sss. Again the lightning is the only thing ford makes I care about I don't really give a rat's @ss bout the other stuff cause honestly the rest of it seems very very crappy. This is coming with experience. I have gone through 3 fords all with bad reports. The lightning as long as its a 2001+ i WONT mind that much because i KNOW a lot of the problems and how to fix em and how to sup up the lightning but the harley to me was always for looks. I dunno maybe ill go head and get a lightning and keep the expo but I can't lie I want that sss it looks like its a beast. Again 1 question is the SSS N/A or does it have a supercharger on it?

wow thanks I needed to know that and 1 more question does the sss have a blower installed or is it all motor some people talking to me say they have a blower on it.

can someone tell me which truck engine has the 454 installed in it from chevy? While your at it what is the votec 6000 like in the old days like a 350 or 383 block?

i got to thinking I wanted both a lightning and a sss but since I already payed for this stupid expedtion I dunno. I might just keep the expo and mod it to be a harley without the performance mods and buy the sss anyways. I had a long thought session and compared the harley to the sss and I don't think it might beat an sss. i mean the harley is a small block with extra weight that doesnt run with the lightning and the lightning is as small as it can get with more benefits to me. The harley pound for pound would seem like a waste of money to the sss since a sss isn't supercharged and is right on the harleys ass with all motor. The money you waste on the harleys supercharger is pathetic for performance but its good for a daily driver. Honestly if you want performance from ford trucks only holla at JDM , roush , and Kenne Bell cause without them its like adding 20k to the price after you pay for your truck before it can perform and by then Id rather have a vette

Ya I have to think hard about it. I want to first thank all who replied because it helps me with my decision. I am now understanding a tad more of what Im getting into. Now that you mention it the F150 really is a 330 cubic engine that only gets 260hp which to me thats an engineering problem from ford and really the the expo and navi line also. Yea they are getting 300 hp now but im talkin about a few years ago. How long does it really take to produce a nice small block engine that is safe and reliable.... I can honestly say that for floss factor is the reason I brought my expedition and really I would have sold it already if it wasn't for the harley and me wante to mod my expo to look like one which is still pretty popular. However man I feel like if I step up to the real harley im lacking except for style which again might be dated. As far as power is concerned I honestly don't think that 5.4L engine is the shiznit but hey if you put a kenne bell sc on it and full jdm work youd get 800-900hp but look how much money you invested into the truck? Id rather buy a vette and I don't really like cars but I love that vette! When you guys explain things here its easier to understand so thanks.... so basically the lightning is a small block engine with weak internals that don't nearly match that of a chevy or gm 350 block respectively but you could SC/Turbo it and get decent performance. Im not really into hauling so thats not an issue to me however the AWD really makes me wonder. Back in the day I wanted the lightning to be AWD and have a stick 6 speed that never happend prolly wont unless you do it on ur own. I think the power to weight ratio would be weakend a tad but again havin AWD would be kick @ss considering most imports have that option standard. I dunno price wise I can get a lightning for 17k+ up to 25k which is the max iM WILLing to pay for a truck again. Honestly getting a tahoe might be better than my stupid expo but im scared of the transmission from the tahoe and yukon as my sisters died on her. Anybody think chevy will make a light sports truck with ss power from the factory? You know what I hear you bout that S10 when you said that I thought well heck hes right that is the same thing a lightning is a nice power to weight ration with a huge block engine and haul tail which is what I would do in a s10 or rather the colorado? well anyone got more opinions on the lightning vs sss?

anyone able to tell me what kinda hp and trq i can get out of the sss and a price.

ya thats what I was bout to say I felt it was impossible for him to run 10's in a quater and he can hang barely with my other cousins 96 impala ss. it must have been 1/8th

yes unless im mistakend the harley 2002 I think model was running 9's the whole day. But the SSS whipped him a few times and he got angry and left. Again I think that may have been with the use of Nirtrous but he didn't pop the hood and had all the other truks dodge, ford etc scared silly.

ya i checked out that dodge and its a beast. One beast I don't want to afford lol but I think your rght. Out of the box it whips a lightning perse. But again that is because ford is idiots to me and wont lets roush bring the lightning to where it needs to be. but ever the roush f150 isn't really fast its better than the crap that ford has made in the last 2-3 years though. I mean I know for a fact I could drop 20k or less on a lightning and then drop 10k into replacing that blower with kenne bell and whip anything else made by ford minus the GT40 but heck anyone ever wonder why the gt40 has the exact same setup as a lightning just with a bucthered lincoln navi and car parts. i mean what is the selling point to me is that chevy kicks ass and I see that everyday here in AL but im not sure what kinda engine that sss has because I have been reading on it everyday but I don't see really what kind it is . anyone can clarify

ya the harley was running consistent low 9's the whole day from 12noon till 9pm hot temps in ALABAMA. The SSS got em though. Well see the thing with me is I want a sports truck but I keep reading and it seems one of the vortecs is a 454 long block chevy which a lot of my friends have down here and that thing is a monster. I don't know about it in a truck but hey if one thing could make me buy a chevy that would be it. I mean i love the lightning cause its quick and nimble im no so much into towing thats what a real truck is for im talking bout pure sports truck with power. Im not intrested in the harley anymore because of sticker price shock I do have a plan to finish my epedition themed harley but it wont be a performance monster its just for the looks again that is if i keep my expedition but you know I want something that will run hard and last long. Im strong on getting the lighning but with alabamians everyone is a down hard chevy fan regaurdless what people think. its more chevy fans in the south than it is fords and im talking performance wise. I never had a chance to see the sss run my cousin but just to give you some ear candy, my cousin has a 2006 maxima on 22's no engine work whatso ever and he ran 10's consistetly the 2 times he went so I mean this is a euro car with 260hp which was running 10's which scared me because a good friend of mine was running 8's in a 454 block hard with nitro.

Well guys let me start off by saying im new to the forum. 2nd I own a ford expedition which the life of it is going down. I plan on buying a sports truck and my 3 choices would be a lightning , ssr , and a sss. not trying to cause a issue in the forum but is anyone able to explain to me in real world terms why I should get an sss over a lightning. I have been studying the ford lightning for some time and it and the harley are the only 2 things ever Id own from ford other than the GT (not the stang) and that is if someone gave it to me. Its sad that the lightning can whip any mustang created period but well leave that alone. any help guys? I recently came back from a car show and they had a drag show and a there where 2 harleys there and I must admit one of them ran consisten 9's the whole time in the quater which I found rediculos because I don't know if anyone here knows but getting the harley that fast cost a prett penny. However he lost to the sss WHEN battled also the other harley went down to the sss as well. Sell me info on why I should get it.
