  1. Well I finally found a 160 deg thermostat. Took 3 trips to Summit racing in Reno, they acted like they NEVER heard of a Silverado SS before. Had to have my parts guy actually give them the part number, those guys behind the counter are useless. Have already done reprogramming, now plan on a Flowmaster dual inlet, one outlet. Just the muffler, the shop will eliminate the collector. I suppose that is the easiest and cheaper way to go. As long as the outlet is large. It is fun to hit the Sierras coming from Cal to Nv at the steep parts and be able to hit 105mph, usually catch up to traffic by then. Once had a Bronco ll, in those steep roads would have to downshift to 3rd and only hit 55-60mph.
  2. That is surprising, getting 55K miles out of the original tires. My truck only has 23K miles and easily can see the wear bars now. Won't make it to 30K and I haven't been too abusive on them either. Had an alignment done way back at a few thousand miles for cupping. As for a couple of other guys, yeah you need to replace all the tires, not just the front or back with AWD. How is that other guy going to match up 2 different sizes front to back? (on another tire post) unless it is a 2WD.
  3. Just found this SS site today. But was the first on my block with an SS truck. From what I have read, seems like most just love to put in lots of $$. Not sure why, I have only performed a PCM change via Super Chip. My trans shifts very firm and later then stock. No speed limiter now. Maybe could use a performance muffler, no reason to do a cat back with 3.5in pipes. It is fairly quiet, but I like it stock looking/sounding. The piece of junk Dodges and Fords put in loud exhaust, so what mine is faster. Course I am an old F__K but been around long enough to know loud exhaust don't mean shit. Could use suggestions for 4 new tires, mine are getting close. Only have 23K miles now.
