  1. Thanks guys, that will work for us. Now maybe we can get this Chevy moving down the road a little faster. I'll email them and see what they charge for the tuned PCM and core charge.
  2. Well my friend is finnaly taking the plung in his SS and we need some serious PCM tunning help. The thing we're looking for is zero down time if possibe. Is there a place we can simply buy an already tuned PCM ( granted we give them our mods info) and then ship them our old one back when we get the new one? We was looking at something like PCMforless. I know they'll need his mods etc but will we have to send them our PCM first? Thanks Ray
  3. well, you gotta remember... most vette owners (especially 6spd ZO's) don't know how to reach there potential!! kinda hard to F'up a 5500+ pound SUV lauch... stab and steer! ~Brian <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not completely IMPOSSIBLE, but it sure seems highly unlikely...? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know this is an old subject but I had to say something since I'm bored lol Anyways, My truck weighs 5600 w/349 rwhp / 447 ft tq and does 14.8's with some tire spin. I've seen my fellows Harley guys run around 500rwhp and still not break into the 12's while at the same time I've seen others do 13 flatt stock. I wouldn't think it's possible but like stated above, nothing is completely impossible. Even with that said, I wouldn't go laying down any cash on a 500hp Tahoe to beat a Vette. Umm I wonder how well that LS7 would work in my wife's 07' AWD Denoli
  4. They're nice trucks but damn they got shitty MPG. Anyways, that HP is about right if I remember correctly. It's due to some open chambed heads I believe. You could install a set of closed chamber heads and a cam to improve it some I'm sure.
  5. Not all Lightnings are created exqual. The 99-01's 02's Lightnings and I think the 02's also are rated at 360bhp w/3:42 gears I think while the 03-04's Lightnings are rated at 380bhp w/3:73 gears. There is also a smaller MAF on the 99-00's Lightnigs compared to the 01-04's.
  6. It ran about 360.00 for the Volant and Volant ram air tube when I ordered it for my friends SSS. The kit is pretty easy to install and looks a lot better than the stock set up for sure! As for how well it works, I've been out of town and really haven't asked him about it yet.
  7. You're always going to run across guys like this...I've seen it in everything from Chevy, Dodge, to Ford guys. I strongly advise against assuming they're all like this one guy, because they're not! I'm not just saying that because I own a Harley but I will say you want find anyone acting like this on NHTOC! I've met some pretty cool Chevy people in my life of owning my Harley. One of my good friends I met racing at a local track. We pulled over afterward racing one night to talk and have been good friends ever since. Now our group has expanded to around 20 different trucks ranging from Fords to Dodge. It's like the Odd couple when we get together on a weekend night We got atleast 2-Lightnings, 2-SS, 2-VHO's and my Harley. We all joke about one another brand of truck but we all have one thing in common, we like fast trucks One of these days I'm going to have to get a group picture and post it.
  8. I really don't assume anything. That is all I've been trying to say...that and the fact that I don't take anything a magazine says as face value.
  9. HUH???!? I hang out at the track. I watch the cars with my own eyes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just because they run the sames time at your track as those magazines say they will, doesn't mean they'll do the same every where else...exspecaily stock with no tuning. Thats like saying two cars; car a) running at 3000 ft of elevations with temps higher than 100degrees and the driver has never raced before is going to run the same times as car b) at sea level during a 60 degree day with a proven drag racer behind the wheel? I'm sure you also believe the same goes for a modded car and they don't have to retune for any climate or elevation changes either?
  10. I've seen Magnum R/T's run low 14s at our track, and a guy on MoParts took his wife's FOUR DAY OLD Magnum with a 5.7 to the track and ran a 13.9 @ 101mph, which is pretty darned good IMO. We have a local guy who runs a 300 with a 5.7 Hemi at our track, he's stock EXCEPT for a "piggy back" to correct his first-second shift (according to him), he runs 13.7 regularly. He's got 20" wheels too. Most 5.7 Hemi cars road test in the low 14's don't they? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is getting redundent. It's like you're saying, the magazine says you'll run 13's and so you'll run 13's. That is dispite the fact you may have never set foot on a race track before or any kind of elevation or climate differences you have from those who tested the car in the magazine.
  11. Not sure, but the same magazine tested the Silverado SS with the same staff I would think...? From http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/pickup...ifications.html So beating a car that is a second faster and traps at TEN mph faster in the 1/4 is quite a chore IMO. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is a lot like magazine racing. Just look at that 05/06' GT they got running a 13's ( a second faster than the R/T). When is the last time you've seen one of them run a 13's stock? If you have seen it, that person is doing better than anyone out here with one. Speaking of magazine racing, I remember when those stangs first came out, they spent almost 1200.00 bux to get her into the 13's? That drive-by-wire wouldn't let the car do jack crap stock! Then on top of that, my truck runs nose to nose with those things stock all day long and I don't run anywhere near a 13's. I wouldn't believe anything those magazines say until I see it on the track first!
  12. Yes sir, but at what elevation and what was the conditions like? They also tend to use a driver who knows what s/he is doing as well.
  13. He might be talking about the auto dimming mirror on the driver side. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats what I'm thinking but who knows. It's nothing specail by any means, both my Harley and my wife's Z71 Tahoe comes with them. As for the stock S/C 550HP, I'm just not sure if I want what ever he's smoking
  14. I'm not sure on if any filter flows better than the other ( although I did get better MPG and a few ponies with my K&N drop in filter) but I'm sure the tubing alone would flow better with a CAI than a stock set up. We just installed a Volant w/Ram air on my friends SS and it looks a lot more efficent design over the stock set up. I'm not sure how well it actually does since it's to hot to run it at the track and we don't have a dyno period let alone one for an AWD vehicle.
