  1. I replaced mine with the silver star's, they are a touch brighter, nothing spectacular
  2. I've also noticed a change with the winter fuel mix, during the summer and fall I was getting around 13ish in the city, now around 10...
  3. Just got my new shaft ordered, should be installed within the next week...service tech said the distribution centers he checked have over 50,000 of these in stock FYI
  4. anyone have this done yet, I am going in this Friday for eval...
  5. FYI, I have an appt to address the upper intermediate shaft issue, service tech at the dealer said they haven't had too many issues on it, I do live in a smaller area tho too. We'll see what happens.
  6. My understanding is that GM changed the design of the splines on the shaft to have fewer but wider splines. This condition allows the grease to work out of the splines. I also understand that GM has a fix coming out in FEB for this. I do not know if it will be warranty only repairs or if it will be available to all of us. Do a search using the word Steering in this forum and you will find a lot of good info. Should be warranty! The service bulletin is out now so I checked with my local dealer to see about the repair. You will only get this repair if you are still covered by warranty. No warranty no fix. My truck has 40000 miles on it so I get the Shaft but not the steering shaft. He said there is no recall so the repair would be at my expense. My dealer don't care and GM don't care . Wake up before we all drive Toyota's. Perhaps the petition should move forward and ask GM to recall or make an exception to allow the dealers to make this repair at no cost to it's customers. Where did you locate the TSB on this???
  7. Mine is doing this as well When we have enough people on here that want to be listed as vehicle owners that have this recurring problem with still no fix from the manufacturer, I'll draft a letter stating the problem, and list everyone's name, VIN, and contact info. on it. Was also thinking about including a clause in there about requesting that GM buy the vehicles back from us, since they have not come up with a fix for it yet. Now, don't get me wrong, I do not want to retire my SS in any way, rather that would be used as a tool to aid in all of us getting the problem finally fixed. If you were GM, and you had to buy back 100+ vehicles at avg. $25,000 ea., (2.5 mil.+), I am sure that you'd figure out a solution ... fast. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
