there are a lot of them out there as far as kenwood and alpine go alpin is respectivly on top the the scales and some times you have to buy navi seperate and it gets pretty $$$$$ but your paying for the alpine name and its a good name. kenwood is on in my book over priced some tiems. clarion has some decent priced and like you sad you prob wont use it to much its for the wife then i would go that route just remember when you get a new toy for her and its in your truck you will start to play witrh it so i would just get one the 800 to 1000 dollor range and you wont have to buy a new one soon. just find one with the options you want and look them up on utube and good luck.

two questions for you did you disconnect your bat when removing the wires and did you see a small spark or something liike that . if you saw a spark then you could have shorted something out inside the pcm. when doing electrical on cars its always wise to disconnect the bat just in case i know lots of people that have had to replace lots of stuff that they should not have bacause a wire sliped out of his fingers.

hey man go to a computer store if you want to mount in in the dash i did it in my friends truck and ran a usb spliter to go to the glove box so he could use his i pod and a usb storage device too.

i have on off my black truck it an 06 nothing wrong with it just some scraches in the paint from me moving from florida and something rubbing on it only on one side. other then that all good.

well hey buddy it really depends on what you feel you need what where you live at really. look up radar roy he test all the stuff out and don't ever buy a cobra ever again not worth it and he will prove that to back me up. second like i said i have had the V1 and currently own the escort 9500i and love it they are both the very best you can spend your money on they are back and forth in testing her is where it comes down to where you live to pick which one u want the V1 and the 9500i are very very similar in the detection fact they are back and forth one will allert maybe a sec if that quicker then the other i some test OPTIONS is what your really looking at with these radars V1 tells direction if that is something you feel you need get it ok 9500i has gps if you live somewhere where they have and or ever planing on going some where where they have red light cameras or speed cameras then this is the beast for you do to the gps it will tell you where they are at and warn u to slow down or not run the light. that is what i looked at when buying my new radar after the v1 got stolen i was just going to go back to them and then started looking around and found the 9500i and have loved it especially since i live close to lubbock tx and go there quite often and they just installed red lilght cameras so point being what one fits best for you they are both upgradeable over the internet. good luck

i got mine two weeks ago and installed them the only problem that i has was the positive and neg needed to be switch on the kit some of them do that. good luck
