  1. I think the has a great powertrain, but honestly have you looked at one close up. Talk about puke. I was checking them out last weekend and i still can't figure what the heck toyota was thinking with the design. The hood gaps were like an 1" wide on each side, the hood is like 2ft long, and looks like a pug, the black thing in the middle is just hideous. These trucks look pretty decent in pictures but honestly in person their horrible looking. Even the Titan looks better than the tundra. The truck also just had a cheap feel too it, the door handles felt very flimsy compared to my sierra. Also the cab choices are kinda stupid, the DC has that stupid ass looking rear door, and the crewmax has such a stubby little bed it just looks awkward as anything. The Reg cab swb is the only one i would even consider owning and it would still make me hurt to look at it. The prices seem pretty on track compared to everything else i've seen but i think i'll stick to my GM's at least until Toyota or Nissan learns how to make a truck that looks like a truck

    viper vs GT

I know this is off topic and irrelevant, but was watching a show on TLC i believe about american supercars and they were dragging the viper vs the ford GT. the GT was in the 12's, but the funny part is the damn viper ran a 14 second quarter mile. Now take into account that these were supposed to be decent drivers. The reason for the poor time is because the viper never gained traction. The second run the viper caught and got ahead of the GT both were in the 12's. Just thought this might intrest some of you guys if you ever catch one at a red light, may be able to show some taillights from a dead stop. I have a feeling the viper would reel in a stock ss pretty quick though.
  3. Your truck has DOD?! I thought you had a LQ9? San Antonio is a blast - there is no place like the riverwalk. It's the L76 with vvt and dod. I love the engine, and it seems more powerful than the lq9 in my 03ss but the shifts are very soft and tq management seems to hold it back more than necessary. I was reading over at performancetrucks.net a guy got 323rwhp with a predator tune. I really don't give a crap about racing, but his dyno sheet showed a great improvement all across the powerband which is always a good thing. I'm looking forward to just getting away from MS for a while "I love Tx" San Antonio looks like a very interesting place from what I've read. My g/f is wanting to stay at the hilton, but i think i'll save the money for a corsa exhaust. Holiday Inn here i come
  4. Thanks for the explanation of the wide band Mr. P . I just realized earlier today that spring break is coming up on March 9th, and me and the g/f have been aching to get out of MS, so i called Nelson Perf. and got an appointment lined up for the 12th. I guess i'm going to be the guinea pig on this, i haven't heard of anybody elso getting a nbs 6.0 tuned. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. I'm kinda concerned with tuning and the DOD feature on the new engines. I think these guys know there stuff from what i've read though.
  5. I'm sure this has been asked and answered a thousand times, but i can't find it with the search option. Do any of you guys have pics of removing the PCM. I've got a 07 sierra v-max "nbs" and i talked to a guy over at nelson about getting a tune to correct my speedo from the bigger tires, firm up my shifts, and sqeeze some more power out of my rig, but i'm kinda hesitant about jerking the pcm out of a brand new truck without knowing what i'm looking at. I've got three big plugs that go into it, but i can't figure out how to actually take it out. I'm kinda debating on going to San Antonio one weekend getting it done in house. What are the advangates of a "wide band" hell what is a wide band for that matter. Thanks guys.
  6. I've rode them back to back and didn't notice any difference. But i can say that if you add a couple hundred pounds to the bed of the truck it makes all the difference ride wise. If you're worried about the trailering package you can get the z71 package with the 6.0 which is alittle cheaper but dosen't have the 4.10's.
  7. My buddy has a 04 dodge cummins 6sp, the thing has tons of power, but with the 6sp any interstate racing is going to be in 6th gear 5th the rpm's are too high and the deisel likes to be down low any way. It's great for interstate passing, and pulls a little harder then my 6.0, but the vho has the advantage of dropping to 3rd gear and completely leaving it. Plus on the top end, I've been his dodge at 105mph the tach is stuck on 3grand which is redline. Even with a chip i don't think it would be good to push those things past redline. I know my vho loves crusing at 99mph and my ss would cruise fine at 110, but the cummins feels like it's going to gernade. Good kill anyway.
  8. It's just got a fabtech 2" coil spacer installed. The rims are 20x8.5 American Eagle Oh-six-four series "i believe" I got them pretty cheap and was concerned about the ride. I was very weary about changing anything involving suspension and tire/wheel. My avalanche's ride suffered pretty bad after a 4" suspension lift and 33x11.5x17 tires. Not to mention the 5.3 could barely get the truck down the road and cruise was not even an option. The 6.0 with 4.10's makes all the difference the 33's didn't affect anything ride or power wise. The fabtech spacers didn't affect anything either, so far all my mods have been great decisions. The billet grill looks funky in pictures buy looks really clean in person i just can't get my camera to focus right. somebody did a nice ol' burnout in your yard My buddy always parks his truck there, and it's been one very rainy winter. It's going to suck having to bounce the lawn mower over it this summer.
  9. I think wheel backspacing will affect tire size that you can fit under it. Fabtech claims that it will clear a 33" tire and it does, it goes through full turn without rubbing, but i know when i get it off road "which i try to avoid" it will rub with wheel articulation. Rancho also claims their 4" will supposedly easily clear a 35". Which is poopy, my buddie has 33's on his Dodge and they don't even come close to rubbing, he could easily clear a 35 if he wanted, but it is a dodge.
  10. Here's my new baby, 07 gmc sierra 4x4 v-max. So far i've put in a t-rex billet grille, chrome door handles, fabtech 2" coil spacer, American eagle 20x8.5, and Toyo Open country A/T 33x10.5. I just got the tires and rims put on and i absolutely love it, the truck rides and drives exactly the way it did the day i bought it. With the 20's and 33's there was absolutely no loss of power. Theres a pretty decent stretch of hill going on I-59 towards hattiesburg MS. with my 04 avalanche with the same size tire on a smaller rim it would bog down horribly and eventually would drop to 3rd gear, new rig never flinches and i can acclerate as much as i want up it while never dropping a gear. I'm so glad i went with the 6.0 . The only complaint i have is the 33's are still mighty close to rubbing. With a tiny amount of trimming it wouldn't be any issue at all. I think i'm going to stick to my original idea of a 3" b/l. I had the guy at the shop jack it up another 3 inches and my jaw dropped. I just need to find some nerf bars that are body mounted instead of frame mounted to hide my frame rails. Long story short, i absolutely love my new rig, so far it's by far the best ride i've ever had. http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w280/dwayne_wayne69dguj/ I thought i read a post someone was asking about the nbs fuel milage, i'm seeing anywhere from 14-18. 14 around town anywhere from 15-18 on interstate and highway. Done a good amount of highway driving cruise at 60 and i'm averaging 18, interstate usually produces from 15-17, but i drive fast.
  11. The numbers from the Car and Driver test are most likely from a truck with 4.10 gears. The 4WD Vortec MAX Crew Cab trucks had 4.10's in '06, and I'm sure they are following that trend in '07. If you were to get the 2WD Vortec MAX package, you'd most likely get 3.73 gears. Mike <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's what i thought when i ordered my truck, come to find out if you get the max trailering package, then you autimatically get the 9.5 rear end, locking rear, 4.10, 6.0, and somer other trailering equipment, but you can also just order it with the 6.0 then you have the option of getting the 3.73 with the 4x4 which i think is about ideal for me, but i've already ordered the truck with the 4.10's so hopefully it won't be that much of a gas hog. my 03 ss couldn't get but 13mpg even if it was rolling down hill in neutral.
  12. First post so hello everyone, does anybody know if the numbers given are with the 3.73 gears or 4.10. I keep reading all these reviews with the new v-max, and the one that interested me the most was in truckin magazine and they were saying the 07vmax was doing better on fuel than the dodge, ford, and titan. they also said it ran dead even with the hemi ram, but i'm wondering if this was with the 3.73 or the 4.10's. I got a 07 on it's way, and i'm not all that worried about setting speed records but decent fuel milage would be nice. Oh btw, if anyone on here has a black 03 silverado ss, bought in Pell City, Alabama with a white scuff on the passengar side, you got my old truck.
