jhenry1020 Posted February 21, 2023 Report Posted February 21, 2023 I accidentally broke the driver side mirror on my 06 SS. Was wondering where I could get another that has all of the same controls as the OEM one. Quote
Silverado_George Posted February 23, 2023 Report Posted February 23, 2023 I would look in the FB group if not there then I believe the higher end denalis and yukon's from 03-06 got the same mirrors as us, the "DL3" mirrors. Dealer still sells them I think but they cost like 300-400 each. 1 Quote
dcairns Posted February 23, 2023 Report Posted February 23, 2023 (edited) The mirror glass itself can be expensive if you want the auto dimming feature. My mirror glass started leaking the fluid sandwiched in the glass and I had to get a used replacement from ebay. If you look at ebay, watch out as almost all of the cheap chinese replacement mirror glass omits the dimming feature (obscuring that fact with the usual bad English). I do recall finding one company that made the mirror glass, but it has been a few years. Edited February 24, 2023 by dcairns (see edit history) 1 Quote

I do recall finding one company that made the mirror glass, but it has been a few years. Digging this one up as my driver side mirror glass is getting worse. Originally it just annoyed me that the heated function was weak compared to the passenger side, but now the glass is getting distorted so that headlights and driving lights behind me get sort of a double image which is distracting. I've got the typical SS equipment RPO DL3 mirrors so they're all the features, which I'd like to retain if possible (heated, turn signal, auto dimming, etc.) So I started cruising ebay for the glass - one seller seems to have 3 or more choices in the same specs and the prices are all over the board from stupid cheap to expensive, and another seller comes in at a similar price to the expensive choice, and many of them are using the exact same pictures. 😕 So why is one $196 ("Martins" brand, lifetime warranty), another $120 ("Koolvue" brand, 1yr warranty), and another only $22??? (also "Koolvue" brand) It looks like the only difference between the $120 Koolvue and $22 Koolvue is the auto-dimming; that's wild. Should I grab the $120 Koolvue or throw $196 at the Martins? Other suggested choices?? Thanks, Richard Quote
dcairns Posted August 28, 2024 Report Posted August 28, 2024 I recall when I was shopping that alot of sellers were mistakenly listing their mirrors as auto dimming when they were just plain glass. If your auto-dimming mirror is going bad, fix it before it starts leaking, that stuff between the glass layers, is kinda noxious and might eat paint if it is not cleaned up quickly. I bought a used one and has been good for many years so far. 1 Quote
someotherguy Posted August 29, 2024 Report Posted August 29, 2024 The Koolvue part #'s are different from one listing to another, as well as the significant price difference. $120 for CV49GL-S "with auto-dimming", vs. $22 for CV49GL-S2 "without auto-dimming" I just wonder if the Martins brand for $196 is any better than the Koolvue for $120. Pretty big spread on same part description, and unfortunately, same exact pictures on both listings - and I mean SAME EXACT pictures; there's no way the pictures are accurate. Richard Quote
someotherguy Posted September 26, 2024 Report Posted September 26, 2024 For what it's worth I got the Kool-Vue CV49GL-S - $130 with shipping from ebay. Fits fine, looks good, seems to work fine, too. Just swapped the glass out today. Richard Quote
