BigTex
THe PCM has two seperate timing tables, one for good gas, one for bad. If you get a tank of bad gas, the PCM will switch to the table that has lower timing. When you refill the truck, it resets it back to the high octane table. If is senses that it is running poorly, it will once again switch back to the lower timing table. FYI - Hypertech and many other tuners set both timing tables for the same values. Thats one reason they have the "93 only" setting when programming.
BenKey
I also told him about the sluggishness of the throttle response compared to my 2002 5.3L. He agreed that it's probably due to the throttle by wire. Sometimes it just doesn't do what I want it to. He said if I wanted to I could pull off the parts from a 2002 truck and he could program a computer for it also. If I were to do this I would get the BBK 80MM throttle body instead of stock. BigTex - I'm going to start calling you Mr. Goodwrench
ctrow
That'd be a good time for a throttle body and a new MAF. Plus N2O, headers, exhaust, ZO6 ported heads, wait I'm getting carried away. I agree BigTex is quickly becoming Mr. Goodwrench which is nice to have. BenKey
BigTex and MN C5 both, are what I would call our resident experts. They definitely know the deal.
