7a7SS
I'm thinking about taking my dash apart this weekend. Is there anything specific I need to know? Thanks, Seven
dcairns
How to put it back together, perhaps ? What are you planning? New stereo? To get you started, the bezel around the instruments and radio "pops" off.
7a7SS
Thanks dcairns, Yeah, I'm thinking about putting in an aftermarket HU. I'm really missing my HD based mp3 player Does anyone know it the oem xm antenna will work with an aftermarket HU? Seven
SWT
You may need an adapter such as one of these found at this site....Stereo Interfaces Jason
919
7a7SS, What player is it. I have the sony hard drive/cd unit. I also miss mine. When I get some time I will be installing it in the lower din hole in the console. I plan on keeping the stock radio with the xm, since the sony does not offer it, and somehow (prolly with a LOC converter out of the stock radio into the aux input on the sony) amplify both systems. What do you think dcairns?
7a7SS
Hey 919, I have the Neo JukeBox, if memory serves me correctly its a 20gig system. Its amazing how quickly I forget things Seven
919
I pulled out the area where the lower din is and it looks to require alot of cutting to get my sony unit installed. May have to stick with the stock unit alone and look for another mp3 player such as the neo that tucks away out of sight.
SSilverado60
you need an adaptor to fit a DIN sized headunit into a DIN 1/2 spot like these trucks have, they are like $15 and make everything go in like factory. no cutting or anything like that is involved
919
No, I am talking about keeping the stock radio and adding my sony in the lower opening which looks to be single din size. But there is all kind of plastic behind it, so it will prolly be too much work.
