My SS is gone

It's been 2 days without my SS and I'm starting to get depressed.

 

It went into the dealer when the ventilation controls started to get funky.

With the vents set to dash only, they would continously cycle between the

dash and floor vents, very annoying. The first time it did this, a power cycle

on the truck fixed it. Then it started doing it all the time. Vents worked

fine on floor only and dash/floor mix.

 

To me this sounded like somekind of control problem since the control

actuator was obviously working.

 

At the end of day 1 the dealer reported that they need to order an

actuator motor. By the way, after running diagnostics the vents are

stuck on defrost only. Tney were putting it back together to give it

back to me that evening. I told them to keep it. I don't want defrost

only with 90 degree temps outside. Oh well, and excuse to drive my

other SS (2000 Camaro) for a while.

 

At the end of day 2, they are still working on the problem and have torn

apart the heater box. Now I'm starting to get scared. Wasn't this originally

a control problem. How many dash squeaks am I going to gain in this little

adventure.

 

They put me in a 2005 Silverado LS from Enterprise. Not a bad truck.

Brakes definitely feel better than the SS. The 5.3L is a dog compared to

the LQ9. It is pretty cool being able to chirp the rear tires. Haven't tried

to really spin them yet.

 

The bad thing is that if they don't finish my truck today, I need to turn in

the rental Silverado. It seems Penn State summer students are moving out

this weekend and all Enterprise's trucks are already reserved.. I'll

probably get stuck with a crappy Saturn or worse yet a Neon.

 

Only one week unitl the outer banks trip. I need my truck back. I can't

go back to trying to fit 1.5 weeks worth of crap into my wife's Grand Prix

for the trip.

 

Sorry of the long post. I just needed to vent. I hope the service tech knows

what he's doing and not just screwing around, but I'm having some doubts.
