j4nash
Does any one know how big are gas tanks are on the SS. I thought that it was a 26 but now I am not sure because to day I was watching the gages and noticed that the gas light comes on when the computer says that you have enough gas to make it 26 Miles. But when I filed up the tank took 26g.
j4nash
Just looked on chevy web site and the Excab short bed trucks have a 26g tank. i wonder if the computer is wrong
BenKey
I would use the light, if you wanted to push it. I have put as much as 26.6 gals in my truck, yet the light had just barely been on.
j4nash
When the light comes on the computer says low fuel warning or something like that. But acquiring to the computer that means that there was about 2 more gallons in the tank. That would mean that it is a 28g tank. In the 2002 trucks the low fuel light would come on and I could drive a about another 30 miles more or less depending on how I drove. Never ran out of gas thow. BenKey
Try and see if you can get a part# off of the tank and cross to verify the size. I'll see if I can find one.
SWT
I read somewhere that the tanks are 26, but you have an additional 2 gallons of space in the filler and other related hoses. Just my guess. Jason
Lee
That must be where all the gas goes (filler hoses) when I keep hitting the trigger to top it off after the auto shutoff stops pumping.
rdss
i just ran mine down to the low fuel light tonight and it went on at 25 miles and then i filled it up with 25.6 gallons.
Lee
Thanks, rd. Guess that answers that question of what size tank we have.
blackhawk
I ran the tank so low on Friday that the range did not even calculate a mileage for me…it just said “Range Low” then I put in 25.6 gallons and the range read 321 miles.
Silvsteve
I ran the tank so low on Friday that the range did not even calculate a mileage for me…it just said “Range Low” then I put in 25.6 gallons and the range read 321 miles. I think it does that with about 30 miles left.
sshadow
I noticed the same thing putting gas in mine... I believe the computer on the SS before I would believe what the meter at the gas pump says. I have filled her up three times and only one time what I put in the tank match what the computer said I used. Also my low fuel light came on at ~ 30 miles left. - Joe
