HARTMAN INC
Mine didn't come with a block heater, which didn't really disqualify the purchase because I thought it would be garaged all the time... Well come to find out it's TOO LONG to fit in the garage... Doh!!! Scraping snow & ice off windows in the morning sucks... I crawled around underneath, peeked through the fender wells, and checked it from inside the engine bay... I didn't spot any easily accessible freeze plugs other than one that I assume is where a factory block heater element would go, above the oil filter in that back cylinder water jacket... It's looks like some sort of a threaded brass freeze plug that a monster hex wrench would fit in… I ordered a GM factory immersion type block heater today for $32… 1) If located in this position will the cord reach to the front tow hook ??? 2) Is there anything I should be wary of while installing it ??? 3) What kind of coolant temps can I expect before startup ??? HARTMAN INC
Picked up the GM factory block heater today... Instructions came with pictures, gotta have pictures The freeze plug I was looking at is the correct one per instructions... You just unscrew the threaded brass plug and replace it with the heater unit... The cord is heat shielded and comes with routing eyelet fasteners... Should reach the front tow hook behind the front bodywork for a clean install... Block coolant temps should range from 80-100F in 0-20F outside temps...
