This is a SERIOUS brake upgrade!!! 16" rotors!!! Yes, rotors that are as big as alot of the stock GM truck wheels!!! These things are insane!!!! But with alot of trucks driving around with 22, 24 and even up to 28" wheels, insane sizes requires insane stopping power! 20" wheels are the minumum required to apply for this upgrade.

Kit Features:

Big Brake Truck Front Hat Kits are engineered for use in conjunction with OE front hubs on a variety of competition, show, custom, and sport driving applications. Forged TC 6 piston calipers, Wilwood brake pads, machined aluminum hats, and 16" GT directional vane rotors exemplify award winning style and provide the ultimate in Big Brake Truck stopping power. Born from Wilwood's 25 year tradition of building championship brake systems, TC Big Brake kits are the perfect compliment to wheel, tire, and suspension equipment upgrades.

Forged Billet TC 6 Piston Calipers · Calipers Available in Black or Red:

Superior strength forged billet calipers resist deflection under load without adding unnecessary weight. Six stainless steel pistons generate high clamping force and balanced pad loading while resisting corrosion and reducing heat transfer from the pads. Standard kits include black calipers with the Wilwood signature. Red calipers available on custom orders.

16” Staggered Vane Directional Rotors:

Staggered direction vane rotors offer the highest cooling efficiency by maximizing the surface area and air circulation between the rotor faces. SRP series rotors are drilled and slotted, and then finished in a silver zinc wash to enhance pad performance and give that high tech, corrosion resistant look inside the wheels. GT series rotors are face slotted to enhance pad performance and carry the maximum rotor mass for thermal stability in high temperature or competition applications.

Forged Aluminum Rotor Hats:

High strength forged aluminum hats are rib reinforced to carry extreme loads and eliminate unnecessary, power robbing rotational weight. Black anodizing prevents oxidation while adding to the custom look inside the wheel.

Wilwood Brake Pads:

Advanced formula high friction compounds have quick response, big stopping power, and extended fade resistance over OE compound pads. Low dust, low noise formulas are easy on the driver and the wheels.

Mount Brackets and Hardware:

Race proven radial caliper mount system with brackets and premium grade studs, nuts, bolts, washers, and alignment shims assure an accurate and secure installation.

Plumbing:

Fittings and hoses for most kits must be ordered separately. Hose kit part numbers can be found next to each kit in the ordering information.

Part number 140-8996 comings with slot only rotors. This one usually sells for $2779.99. Part # 140-8996 has crossdrilled, slotted and zinc washed rotors. We sell this for $2899.99 Red coated calipers add $160.00 per pair. We have some awesome discounts available for these and all other Wilwood packages through the end of December. Just give us a call or e-mail to receive a quote. Part numbers can been seen in the Truck Brake section of our website.

This package will be going on our tow vehicle soon (2005 Sierra HD).

Have a good day!

This only does the front. Wilwood does not offer 16" rotors for the rear even thought I swear I saw them on their site. I was on the phone with them today and they said they don't make 16" rotors for the rear because it would be way too much brake for the rear of a truck. They offer a rear kit which consits of 13" rotors and 4 piston calipers and they told me in a few months they will be offering 14" rotors for the rear kit with 4 piston calipers.

This disappointed me because I really don't want my rotors up front to be 2" or 3" larger than the rears for apperance purposes but i'm sure it stops really well. Also they don't do a conversion for the rear of the 05 trucks if anyone was wondering.

Baer does a rear conversion and by the sounds of it the 04 and earlier silverado disk backing plates and parking brake assembly fit on the 05 drum rearend but I'm not positive on this and I will find out for sure very soon.

i'll be honest, i;m not really interested in the weight, i'm more interested in the results. definately interested in the product. i was more meaning the inertial weight. just like when you take a truck and gear it so you can put bigger tires on it. it won't be as fast even though the final drive will be the same if done right, the rolling mass of the bigger tires is more resistance so it slows it down. My real concern is if Wilwood adressed this concern or if they were only worried about the biggest and fastest stopping. I would like to know if they truly engineered these for performance or just a style. I know their rep is for performance but these seem to be hidden under a mask IMO. let me know what you think i may be compleatly wrong.

PS the SS brake system does need some work, although good i think there is definately alot of room for improvement and i would like to accomplish that.

Well i'm not going to go bashing any companies because both baer and wilwood make very nice products but on the phone with wilwood it sounded to me like these were designed for more of a "wow factor" to go behind a nice big set of wheels and i'm sure that with them being so large that they would have to affect performance and even if they are a light weight setup they can't be lighter than the factory setup with how big they are. I made my decision today to go with baer because they are comming out with 15" rotors with 6 piston calipers and they do the rear conversion to a 14" rotor with a 2 piston caliper. I think it will look better with an inch difference than 2 or 3 depending on what rear rotors you choose for the wilwood setup.

First off...let me say that i did not weigh the components. But i did the wilwood 16x6 swap on my father's sss and the difference in weight (by feel) is minimal. This is to say, that i don't think the wilwood setup is any heavier, and maybe a little lighter. Those are 16" rotors but about 12" of that is aluminum hat, where as the stock rotors are 12" of heavy metal only. As far as the performance goes, the brake bias seems to be very balanced still, with the addition of stopping much more palpably and with more initial bite and better modulation (probably more a function of the braided lines and new pads, p.s. get the line kit with 90degree elbows, not the straight thru like i got, had to source some 90deg fittings for the rear of the caliper). They definitely do have a "wow" factor as well, as they just squeeze under the stock 20" rim, very nice and full look to the front wheels. Truck stops wonderfully, and if they come out with a rear kit, great, if not no big deal. Still need to get pics up of that install, will do that soon. :happysad:

Very cool I would like to see pics. They will not make a kit for the rear in 16's because it is too much brake for the rear of the truck the tires would lock up and you would always endup on the ABS. Atleast this is what wilwood tells me. They do make a smaller kit though.

As for weight I could argue the weight situation all day but I havn't seen these exact rotors. We do have a set of their 13" rotors on our road race truck and I can say they are pretty damn heavy for being a racing style rotor. We are thinking about carbon rotors for the near future :P
