cadillacbob22
Was crawling under my trusk the other day...I was looking at my exhaust and was surprised that my 'big block series' flowmaster muffler had 2 1/4 pipes coming out of it...Stock size pipes going in...I am lightly modded...CAI. PCM4LESS. 160 stat, flowmaster muffler... am i losing power? if so how much? Would love a reply from ZIPPY or one of our other savants!...LOL Would I be better just dumping the exhaust with turndowns?...I am light on cash right now, and I may have to wait for 2 1/2 pipes...or should I go 3'? SS_bnoon_SS
Ouch... get two 2.5" in/out mufflers and dump them with turn downs...
BenKey
Since you replaced the biggest choke in the system (muffler), I'd say you're not losing very much, maybe 5hp.
zippy
at the most you're probably losing 5hp up high. once you begin to mod heavily it will begin to make more of a difference in the power. honestly i would recomend looking for a muffler to replace it without chambers in it also. if you check out the latest CHP you'll find that they picked up power with replacing the flowmaster weld in that they were running. zippy
i'd recomend checking into a pair of dynomax bullets in place of the muffler and have them both Y into the stock tailpipe. they will flow nice and shouldn't have too much resonation.
