JF-03-SS
Where is the best place to buy a dual pod, and can I get one to match the color or do I need to paint it? I was thinking of putting a water temp gauge and didn't know what else I should put in. I don't know anything about gauges so any ideas and suggestion would be great. Thanks guys, Jeff~
pnblwzd
Autometer makes a dual and tripple pillar pod for our trucks, with a cutout for the tweeter. It comes in textured black which looks ok (since there is black and grey plastic on the dash anyways), or you can paint it to match. It took a little getting used to that pillar pod being in the blind spot right there, but now it's fine. So Cal Diesel also makes a nice billet aluminum mount that goes in the overhead cubby hole, but it's kinda pricey and more work to install. As for gauges, the Autometer Phantom or Phantom II match the stock SS dash pretty nice, although my P2's are a brighter white when illuminated than the dash lights. I'm thinking about maybe replacing the stock dash lights with led's to match, or toning down the A-M's somehow... All the A-M stuff is available from Jegs, and the overhead plate can be found at Socaldiesel.com J
TexanC3
For a pod go to So Cal Diesel For guages try an Interceptor Scan Gauge. The interceptor "reads, displays, and records up to 28* important engine operating parameters"
JF-03-SS
Like I said , I said I know nothing about gauges. So what is the difference betweem the single and dual Intercepter? I guess if I got one of those I would only need one gauge then?

I also have the P2's and if you hook them to your dimmer, you can have them as dim as you dash lights.

I guess if I got one of those I would only need one gauge then? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The dual one will allow you to look at two engine parameters simultaneaously. So using that model you could look at engine temp and transmission temp at the same time, or any other mixture of things. The single you would have to scroll through them if you were interested in looking at more than one thing. Even with my dual, I scroll through things I'm looking at all the time. The dual is just more convenient to use if you're interested in looking at some of those things.

j4nash
I run a interceptor scan gauge and a wideband. Those I would say are the best two gauges you can buy if you can only have 2.

The dual scan gauge is only one gauge with 2 displays. I don't think a wideband gauge is necessary unless you have some fairly serious mods, and even then would not recommend the cheap ones that just tap into your stock O2 sensors. The better ones use an actual wb sensor and usually cost quite a bit more - $250+.

Holty
you can never have enough gauges! well, i guess you can hit a point where you start looking like a ricer, but gauges are cool in my book, and i look at ALL of mine ALL the time, except for my narrowband 02, which is pretty much useless. I have autometer LUnar series 02, boost, and fuel pressue gauges in a 3 pod A-pillar painted to match the dash. Then i have the socal diesel pod with my innovate wideband and my aeroforce scan guage.
