It was 72 not sure on the humidity . First time i ever ran . Was practicing

for when i run my Chevelle. There was another SS there but he did not run

he towed a car up to run . Not so bad for bone stock and a pretty heavy

truck.

I brake torqued it up to about 2,000 rpm . I ran 2 times stopped to let the

truck cool down and get some great race track food and then it got real

busy and i didnt want to sit in the staging lanes for nearly an hour , so i didnt

run again .I will have to go again next week maybe . The tracks only open

for a couple more weeks depending on the weather. Ialso had about a half

a tank of gas and was in full street trim (spare and all).

I hate those long staging lanes as well - drives me crazy. When you mashed the gas at 2000rpms, did you hear a brief scuff by the tires, or did the transmission bog down a little?

According to the test editors at 'Road & Track', AWD vehicles get the fastest launches when all four tires are allowed to spin briefly before hooking up. If this brief 'scuff' of the tires doesn't take place, then the transmission bogs down (revs drop slightly) and the resultant launch is compromised.

Congrats on your first run. On a side note, running your Silverado SS won't really help you for when you run your Chevelle. AWD and RWD are a whole world apart. Practice in an abandoned parking lot. :D
