Black04SS
Every Chevy / GMC truck we've owned going back to 1994 has had the fuel filter on the frame under the drivers seat,,,my son's 03SSS has it there ,but my 04SSS's fuel filter is nowhere to be found. Are they in the tank on the 04's ? TIA Black 04SS
tawss04
Yup, they decided to put them in the tank in 04.
Krambo
Yup, they decided to put them in the tank in 04. A simple 10 minute job turns into 2 hours. Aren't the 04+ FFs supposed to be good for like 150K or something. I wouldn't care, I would still change them out at least yearly. I overkill every maintenance item though. FYI, it may be easier to remove the bed rather than drop the tank if you have helpers.
cerbomark
I wanted to change mine too but forget it with it being inside the tank. Why do they do things like this?? Cost?? They want the service$$$?

misterp
How about the 05 & 06 models,,where are they located Black04SS <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All CM trucks with returnless fuel systems ('04 and later) are equipped with in-tank fuel filters. One of the little blessings I count in owning an '03, but I'd rather have the in-tank fuel filter than the crappy '03 brakes. Mr. P.
