SSThunder
My latop I got last year is acting weird. I keep it pluged in because I use it every night(my business). Lately it wants to run off the battery even though it's plugged in. When I log off it charges the battery. Normally it would run off the plug in but now it only does that every once in awhile. Could my ac adaptor or battery be going downhill? Sometimes it will run off the ac adaptor and charge the battery, other times it will just run off the battery. Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A75-S211 with P4 3.2 GHz 80 gig HD and 512 MB of RAM. I've never seen this type of problem. You guys got any suggestions or help? kaotik1
I have one of these as well, and if I move it using the plug it will go to battery power. I usually have to pull the plug out the back and plug it back in, and it uses the ac power again.

I was thinking maybe the ac adaptor is going out on me. Is that covered by warranty?
dcairns
If the AC adapter is going bad and not putting out full power, it could result in your symthoms. Insufficent power to run the laptop, but enough to charge the batteries. Do you have a volt meter to check it with?
knightrider2000
I've also seen it MANY times, where the port on the motherboard, the solider breaks loose and looses connection, or the connecter tries to break off, from stress. if your under warrenty and that is the case, it should cover it.
