stoney126
hey all, just picked up my SS and it came with a K&N kit. My question is there a better kit out there? Im not a big fan of reoiling the filter. Can I buy a AEM brute fore filter and run the K&N pipe? Or would I have to buy the whole kit? Thanks or any help
04CHASE
i think all of the cai kits you need to re oil the filter from time to time.

They can be purchased at ant GM dealership
stoney126
no kidding? I suppose it is pretty much the same performance wise right? Im just always worried about over oiling.

KissMySilvSS
Not quite sure who told you that it would never need to be oiled, but the GM kit is the same as a K&N kit or Outlaw or Volant. All three come with a K&N style filter element that will need to be cleaned and re-oiled, there is just no way around that.

KissMySilvSS
It might not require oil, none really do, but they still need to be cleaned

Fallen.One05
So why would you go out and pay $350 for a CAI.. and then pay more down the line for a replacement filter? I'd rather shell out money for an Outlaw or Volant and re-oil than have to buy a new one.... =-/
KissMySilvSS
, exactly what I was thinking
AK04SS
just go to schucks and buy the MAF cleaner, and clean the MAF sensor every other time you clean and re-oil the filter.
