ChevyMan23
Alright, heres the scoop. The truck, 2000 Silverado Z-71, 5.3. Nothin special done to it other tha a CAI and Gibson Catback. The problem. The battery keeps overflowing everywhere. The battery is fairly new. It started a few months ago out of no where. The alt is fine, had it checked. We'ce changed the battery out w/ one that wasnt doing that, and it did it to that 1 too. We drained water out of it, we dont have a clue as to what else to do. Its even got the local alt rebuilder/battery guru going bonkers. And by we i mean my dad and i, its his truck..its ruining the garage floor, getting all over under the hood...everything....any ideas or similar experiances?...think it'll stop if he says screw it and gets a gell battery?....this is gettin old.......TIA

56chevywagon
Check all your grounds, you may be arching and causing it to boil over...just graspin but maybe...
misterp
i think your right with the gel battery, just get a optima or something <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would not advise that until you figure out the problem; gel cell (Optima) batteries are *less* tolerant of under/over-charging problems, because the bubbles cannot escape the gel they will never recover from 'boiling'. Mr. P. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm with Mr P. on this. Right now you just have a battery boiling over. Gel batteries in an overcharge condition would be more prone to an explosion. Right now you have a mess on the floor rather than all over the garage and truck. I would check and see if you have a regulator spiking intermittently causing the problem

If not, you'll just burn up an Optima, and they're not cheap.
