04silveradoclone07ss Posted October 27, 2006 Report Share Posted October 27, 2006 i was wondering how to i find the generation of my truck. is it one or two. i was ordering part the other day and a selection came up of gen1 or gen2 i had no idea what to pick. i was searching under 04 silverado 1500 reg cab stuff and this still came up. so i dont know if there were 2 gen mae during that year. if you guys could help me i would gretaly apprecaite it.. kyle Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

GM will change designs part way through the year. Some say gen1- gen2 other places say 1st desing or 2nd design. Usually at the dealer they can tell buy the vin#, sometimes it requires taking the part off to check for a certain mark of stamping #. Its a pain in the ass sometimes, when I had to replace the door on my truck I had to take it off just to get a number of the back so they could order one Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
