What is the correct way to bleed the coolent system? is there a bleeder on top of the intake? do you just put some in the overflow tank? HELP! I must drive my SS!! SOON, or I will go into withdraw! SuperDave
There is no real need to bleed! But if you must.... fill system with 50/50 mix of Dex-Cool and demineralized water. Start engine with cap off run engine until air bubbles stop coming up to top of radiator, you can aid this by turning heater on high/full hot. Squeeze radiator hoses to bring level to just under cap opening then place cap on and run until fully warmed up. Top off to full hot line in coolant recovery bottle and Viola` you're full and burped! FalconPilot
That would be great if there was a cap on the radiator! Mine don't have one Is it ok to just run it? does the new style coolent system bleed it's self? does it circulate the fluid through the overflow tank? BenKey
None of them do. Just fill the resevior, it will get circulated down through. Fill it up to the line, put the cap on and bring it up to temperature, turn it off let cool some, then top off again, if needed.
FalconPilot
Thanks Ben!! I know on my wifes Mustang the engine sat higher than the rad. You had to blead the system. I am glad Chevy got it right! Chad
