350 are cool and can definatly make some good power, it depends what you want out of it . imo i would do a big block 454 or 502 with a healthy cam and leave it at that. , i just love how a big block sounds with a lope.

:withstupid:

i'm definitely with chase on the 502, my uncle had a show car 1955 bel air with a 502 and it was by far the sickest car i have ever riden in. his son also has a show truck '92 454 SS slammed on the floor and all show trucked out.

bigger is always better

Bigger is not always better. Especially when it comes to clearance and weight issues. If your talking about hp, then yes, there is no replacement for displacement, but who wants to be relocating things under the hood and also compensating for the added weight?

Especially on an El Camino. They're light in the rear to begin with, then to add more to the front. Big block are bad, though.

i agree too, an el camino is a whole other animal than the bel air, it was just a thought though.

I would put money into the 'Camino...........Like you said earlier, your truck is already laid out, and the 'Camino would make a nice little street cruiser. As far as Big block vs Small block........it's just a matter of what you are actually going to use it for..............I know a ton of healthy small blocks that have more than enough power to get ya in serious trouble........

Ya, I already made up my mind about it. I'm already looking for the other parts I'll need for the motor. Hopefully I'll have enough money to do everything including the trans and at least the brakes. The rear end can wait until I grenade it.
