My bet is that on the prior 12-psi dyno runs you cracked a ring land (or worse), and it limped along until you loaded it again. But who knows, definitely failed piston though. Mr. P. Mr. P. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Failed ring lands are common in stock pistons when they get heated up with FI. Probably could have made them last longer if you would have ran it a bit on the richer side (using fuel to lower combustion temps) or had an alcohol injection system, but you still would have been on the hairy edge with a stock short block.
