i am the person that made that post at the start of the thread. i would personally like to apologize to anyone i have offended and let it be known that i did not mean it in anyway as a racist comment. i do apologize and will accept any action decided against me. I am in no way a racist and meant no offense or harm by that comment, i am sorry for the slip, just didn't think anyone would take it offensely.

IMO, racists are just immature, uneducated, narrow minded people who are really just insecure about themselves. They are just like the bullies in schools who pick on the kids with glasses, or because they're over weight.

what a load of  :icon_bs:

Remember also ... racism = ignorance. :smash:

You can't teach an old dog new tricks, and as long as the old dogs are teaching the new dogs, racism will continue to be an epidemic ... no matter what year we're in.

I think that everyone is fooled into believing that because we live in such a technologically and intellectually advanced society that racism should have disappeared many years ago ... and that's just not the case. How can it be assumed that a society can simply extinguish generations upon generations upon generations of racial teachings, feelings, influences, and emotions in a period of 10 or 20 or 30 years? :nono:

Despite our advancements in science, politics, intelligence ... our overall evolvement as "man" ... there will always be history that precedes us. As long as that continues to happen ... hell even The Jetsons would have been racist. :sigh:

I'd be curious to see what the ethnic make-up of the people on this site is. I know there are many races  represented, but I think we are by far "white middle class" people and mostly male.

Racism is wrong. Stereotyping is inevitable. I currently manage a small store and if 2 young men of any color come in wearing "gangsta" clothing you can bet your ass I'm going to be watching them. If I'm getting on a plane and there's 4-5 Arab looking guys 17-40 years old getting on too, again, you can bet I'm gonna be leery of them. Some people would call this racism. I call it common sense.

I deal with people of all races on a daily basis and make assumptions about them almost immediately. Skin color is probably the least of my concerns.

I wouldn't call what you're doing racist ... I'd call it profiling. :)

I whole heartedly agree with this statement ... Racism is just not needed in today's society ...

On the same note of this topic ... I just got this, this morning ... It is a transcript of Andy Roony from 60 Minutes. I really breaks down the common sense of the American, as a whole. Don't forget, this is one man's opinion ... but it does hit "Close to Home":

Andy Rooney said on "60 Minutes" a few weeks back:

I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens...Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, that is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling, it is the Law of Probability.

I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry ass if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don't hate the rich, I don't pity the poor.

I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else.

And if you don't like my point of view, tough...

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG, OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,

AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD,

INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

I was asked to send this on if I agree or delete if I don't. It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having "In God We Trust" on our money and having "God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the 14% to Shut Up and BE QUIET!!!

I think all of that just about sums up my entire theory of life in this country.

WHITE GUILT!

Some people just have to have something to bitch about, and anytime they feel downtrodden

or picked on by everyday life, there has to be someone there to blame.

Rich, or middle class, white people have consistently let minorities have a pass on

actual racism (i.e. employment quotas, affirmitive action, ACLU lawsuits, etc...) because they

want to feel like they are 'helping' them get a leg up, but in the end thay are just pushing them down further.

If peole TRUELY wanted equality, then there would be no Negro College Fund or Affirmitive Action Program.

It would be whom ever was qualified for the job.

I often hear women complaining about being treated fairly in the workplace. They don't want to be TREATED the same, they just want to be PAID the same. I have worked with so many women, who complained about being paid less than men, even though they had half the required training as a man. Women like to break out the doe eyes when they want something, complain about 'that time of the month' just to get out of doing something, or start crying and everyone just comes running to see whats wrong. EQUALITY MY ASS!

What happened to people just working hard, doing whats right and accepting their life as their own responsibility?

Thanks hippies, because it all started with the 'sexual revolution' and that 'if it feels good do it' attitude!

This statement says it all, imo. The 86% needs to stand up and be heardwhen the 14% are trying to change things to suit them. This country used to be majority rules, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease, so if you're in the 86% start squeaking. LOUD. Maybe then we can send the message that we've had enough.

Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now.:jester:

:withstupid: I worked in a building once that had a handicap entrance in the back 20 feet from the handicap parking spaces and had an elevator right inside the door. This was not good enough for someone because they felt they were being hidden in the back of the building and wanted to come in the front door. In order for that to happen they still have to park in the back go all the way around to the front have a lift installed so they could come in the front door like "everybody else" and once inside go all the way to the other side of the building to get to the elevator.

A little off topic but its my right as an american to complain :jester:

Even though they might have overlooked the fact that it was the easiest (and cheapest - which can be non-exclusive) place to put the said "handicap entrance". it all goes to city codes.

as far as the God and religion aspect. I consider myself Agnostic. I was raised Catholic, was baptised, had my first communion, went to confession, was confirmed, AM a Godfather, I just don't (personally) believe in it. My belief is; prove it. The way I see alot of religion is that it was a way to police people. To maintain order. As well as to explain the unexplained. In my eyes, science has explained the unexplained just fine. However, I don't feel the need to knock anyone that does believe. It's good to have faith. maybe one of my faults is that I don't. who knows?!?!?!

as far as "in God we trust" and the "Pledge of Allegience", i think most RATIONAL THINKING people can see that in Puritan times, God was as heavy influence on society. whether you choose to accept or believe that is your choice. i for one will not knock that values and morals for which this country was founded.

im not even gonna read all this BS, because everyone knows its wrong. Ok I see it everyday too and yeah it goes both ways. thats all that needs to be said. seems as if these days if someone doesnt like u its a racist issue and i disagree. some dumb people that come out and say things like that are ignorant people and yeah its wrong but im so sick of hearing how racist the world is. Everyone judges people for whatever reason but lets not take and get soft over something that is a joke or something said by a moron like that. IM white(if that matters ur racist for thinking it does) and ive been told i was racist because i said aight cuddy to a girl at my work. thats bs and i hope all of u think before u decide whats racist and what isnt. why is it so different when one race talks about another. i see people as people and no matter what there r gonna be morons from every race, thats the only thing u can say for sure. racism is too touchy and i think everyone(on here) agrees its wrong so i see no reason to even bring this up.

Not to threadjack, but :withstupid: on religion. I myself am Agnostic. Google "religion used as social control" and you'll be pretty amazed at what pops up. I also believe ... I need to see it before I believe it. God supposedly created man ... and Christ is considered our God, but was not "born" or "risen" prior to 2007 years ago. Yet, there is evidence of man's existence on the Earth from 65 million years ago ... do the math ...

I'm not trying to say be unfaithful if you have a steady faith ... but at least open your eyes to some common-sense facts that are contradictory to the story that you claim to have such hardcore belief in, and explain to me ... how it all happened.

I was also raised catholic and the whole nine yards, however I have always been a heavy science person so I agree with yo how the math and science is there but people dont believe in it. However the Catholic church fully recognizes the theory of evolution etc. And well not to you know belittle your math but there was no existence of man from 65 million years ago. 65 million years ago was the great impact and the end of the dinosaur era. I would say around 1-3 million. However the earth has had many great extinctions before and after and has seen its rise of many many great species. But Im sure everyone gets the point how the bible should not be taken in a literal sense.

EDIT: sorry on the poor use of grammer but I read it on a rush and I'll fix it when things calm down here. :)

Dude ... there's evidence of human and dinosaur remains being found at the same archaeological site ... meaning that they co-existed. Check it Out Here
