marc_w
A bit of a sanity check for me. Do those three piece engine covers have any functionality, besides getting in the way of me doing mods? ;) IE: They collect warm air to heat the intake on cold days or keep consistant intake temps or something? The middle one isn't bad, but the others should go.
dcairns
I noticed on my middle cover that there is some insulation material on the inside. Probably to cut down on intake noise.
deezel
over on ls1tech somebody was guessing that maybe the insulation was to muffle the valvetrain noise...
Tx Chevy Guy
GM uses these engine covers mainly as a sound deadener <notice that they were first used on buicks and caddys>. That is their main purpose, then simply for looks. And, of course, to hide components from curious owners.........maybe intimidate em a lil into not working on their trucks themselves.
