BigO3SS Posted April 16, 2007 Report Share Posted April 16, 2007 Hi guys, new to the SS club and this is my first truck ever I have been around drag racing and own a 11 sec 70 cutlass, but trucks are new to me! I was wondering what you guys think is the best bang for the buck ( a cheap easy mod ). My cutlass takes up all my money but I would love to sqeez some more noticable power out of the SS without dropping much money. Lets say up to $200, is this even possible? get a mail order tune. should cost between 150 and 200 if you go with zippy or frank at revraceworks. there are some others as well. My truck already has a flowmaster catback, so with a tune mabey I will see a pretty good gain. Does anyone know what the avarage gain in tenths down the 1/4 are with a decent exhaust and a tune? As a rule of thumb, if your motor has minor modifications, by minor meaning it can still be properly fed with the factory fuel system/injectors, then any of the more popular tuners will already have an adequate mail order tune on file. OTOH if you have major induction changes (cam, heads, intake, forced induction) or are running NOS I would feel comfortable only with a face-to-face tune.
