misterp
Yes last I heard Alan Nelson locks both the PCM as well as the tune; OTOH his price is supposed to include lifetime retunes. Mr. P.
wody
isn't that illegal? by taking away the choice to use another tuner by locking the pcm. that is almost like a monopoly. unless he gives you the passcode. brobradh77
Locking the PCM means no one else can tune it? Never heard of that until recently please explain.
misterp
Locking the PCM means no one else can tune it? Never heard of that until recently please explain. Tunes can be password protected (locked) to prevent others from reading the tune. The PCM can likewise be locked to prevent the operating system from being reflashed. If you have a "locked tune" you can't read it, but you could reflash the entire PCM with a new OS & tune; if you have a "locked PCM" then the PCM will refuse to be written to period. Mr. P. chpspecial
Yup, when I had the nelson tune, my PCM was locked. I had to ask him to unlock my PCM so that I could use EFILive.
