rpss4844 Posted October 17, 2007 Report Share Posted October 17, 2007 Hi to all, I am new here and have had my SS for two weeks now. It is a 2003 black w/37k miles. My question relates to a common mod done when I had a LS1. instead of using the "reccomended" filter, a lot of people, including myself, opted to use a larger filter with the same diameter and same thread pattern and hole. It usually had a gain of about a half qt of oil and having extra filter media. I just done my first oil change on the truck and noticed that It called for a pf44 ac delco. after cross refrencing this to a wix filter and seeing how small it was compared to some others, I decided to go with the longer one. My main question here is I dont think the filter I got has a anti-drain back on it becasue you cannot see the rubber ring inside the top of the filter like what was in the proper filter.
